I got a Sharp Image chassis here which I believe is the SI-727R-DS. Some things don't quite match the pic of this chassis on Bob's site (like the neck board and a small daughter board opposite corner from the flyback which mine is missing) but it has SICHA 79 printed near the A/C input as highlighted in a guide that Ken wrote last year.
Anyway, this thing sounds like it's going into HV shutdown. I hear the flyback fire then kick off after about a second. 5 seconds later it tries to fire again, and the cycle repeats. No big cracks or pops like something is arcing though.
There is a pretty toasted looking resistor @ R126. Can be seen bottom dead center in the attached pic. Its reading 21.75k ohm, but the color bands are illegible. Anyone have a manual or a similar chassis they could tell me what this R is supposed to be?
About that resistor... signal goes from that, through C110 then to pin 7 of the flyback. Trying to decide if the failed resistor is leading to the shutdown, or if a failing flyback has caused the overheated resistor. Or should I be looking elsewhere for failing parts?
