My screen is scrambled. What causes this much distortion? Can it be as simple as a cap kit, or is this a tube issue? I don't want to buy a cap kit if it is not going to help. Thanks for the help.

Anyone have monitor issues like this before? Any help is appreciated.

Bump. Anyone with thoughts. I have capped a few monitors now, but not a lot so I am still new to monitor repair. I am not sure what is causing this much distortion. Just looking for thoughts or suggestions.

is that with a game connected to the monitor or no signal applied at all? It does look like it needs a cap kit (the second pic shows a dark to bright wash). That cap is next to the flyback and is a pain to get too.

4.7 @ 250 I think.

{Most common are the caps on this chassis}
not the semiconductors.. except the PWM IC
and bad conections to pcb with large watt resistors
around the chassis board.

I personally only replace certain caps when i see
a cap kit has been replace in it before..

otherwise put a cap kit in it.
The PWM IC could be a suspect
after the caps are replace..the one in the primary
of the power supply on a large heatsink..
If the B+ is to low out of the smps.

confirm its hookup right with signal cables
inspect the chassis for over heated parts.
and the remote control board aren't damage from
moving around the cabinet..and seated good on the chassis.
Anytime you have orginal caps in it you judge the chassis
only after the caps have been replaced.
I know im old school but its only common sense trouble shooting to me.
Good Luck!

Awesome. I just wanted to check and make sure a cap kit was the first place to start. I will do so. Thanks!
