Hey guys,
I recently turned on my Darkstalkers arcade and I heard some snapping. So I popped the back open and see it appears to be coming from right next to the flyback. I only got so close but that's what it looks like. It is a Sharp Image Chassis and it was actually serviced 5-6 months ago. Is this an issue of a cap just going bad or does something specifically cause this? Or has this happened to anyone else? The picture still came on and the brightness flickered for the few moments it was on.
Thanks

Looks like the flyback itself is arcing to the metal heatsink next to it. That's a pretty common failure on a flyback... if you look at it closely, you'll probably see a small crack or pinhole in the flyback plastic. Pretty much it means it's time to replace the flyback... if you leave it running too long like that, you'll probably blow out the HOT too.

Gotchya, thanks man.

If the flyback is unobtanium you can just use hi temp sealant to stop the arcing.
