A friend just picked up a shark jaws and has it mostly working. But the diver is missing completely from the monitor. im wondering if this could be a failed component? is this ttl logic? and has anyone seen this issue before?
thanks

seems like there is a single rom chip for each respected graphic - fish, shark, diver. now to find out which one. got to love these simple games.

im guessing a good starting point would be to reseat or replace the following components at the following locations. the sort of shotgun method of getting your diver back on screen. kind of sounded like the diver may not show during attract mode in the description. im still waiting on confirmation if he coined up or not.
thanks

culprit is one of these bad boys yes????

5H, 5J, 5L, 6K, 4J, 4K,

reseat these locations if the are socketed. these are the logic specifically for the diver. is the diver seen at all during attract mode?

thanks

so he did have it coined up and no diver. what do you folks think about the above info? am i on the right track? is there something else you would try first?
thanks

so we now have the diver on screen but he is scrolling up at a fast pace and is uncontrollable. here is a video:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bM5Yt_iHfzs

below is an image of the diver circuit.

im thinking the timeing signal in the verticle sync chain has a bad gate. i think thats the ic in location 7 F.

im thinking these could also be causing issues.
pin 7 - up signal
pin H - down signal.
verticle stop signal - pin 8

my plan is to have him replace both 9316 roms and whatever chip is at 7F. what do you think?
thanks

I guess when you have a really old game that is not popular its easy to see why there are not a lot of people that are capable of helping. I'll go ahead and have him start the repairs from my last post and hope that keeps moving us in the right direction.
Thanks
