Hi all

I have a non-working Shadow Dancer 2 (JAMMA). I have not been able to find any info at all on this game, does anyone know anything about it?

I got it from a trusted friend who's been in the industry since the '80s, he told me it is very rare and most people don't know about it.

I'd be interested to hear or see anything on it.

Thanks,

Outkast

Yeah... that is my guess... your friend meant that Shadow Dancer is part 2 of the Shinobi series. I don't think there IS a Shadow Dancer 2... and I don't think Shadow Dancer it's JAMMA either...but i could be wrong.

Shadow Dancer is a Sega System 18 game, like Moonwalker. Friz and Toby are right, there isn't a Shadow Dancer 2.

Shadow Dancer is a jamma game. It is the sequel to Shinobi which makes it Shinobi 2. And it is also a Sega System 18 board. If it works and says Shadow Dancer 2, we'd all like to see a screen shot. But I don't think a sequel to shadow dancer exists. I did however recently buy a Shadow Dancer for about 50 if memory serves. The game is somewhat hard to come by, but it is more uncommon than it is rare IMO.

That's what I thought too. I actually bought it off him when I was looking for Shadow Dancer. He said I have a Shadow Dancer plus a Shadow Dancer 2. The first thing I said was is there such a thing? He said it's ultra rare and it isn't even on KLOV.

It's an original Sega board, System 32 and JAMMA. It even has 1991 on the board, Shadow Dancer was 1989.

I'd love to get it working just to see what it actually is! Now I am even more curious! Maybe I should take a photo of the PCB so people can see it.

If it is a system 32 board, you may be able to swap out the b board and get the Shadow Dancer 2 working. That is, assuming the problem lies with the A board. I think the programming roms on the are on the B board. Another thing sega is known for is having suicide batteries. If the battery is dead, the game may be lost forever. You may want to read up on suicide battery repairs as someone on the web specializes in getting these things going. Thats bout all I can think of to get you started in the right direction.

Heres the list of possible donor boards:

Hi again

I contacted my mate and checked with him, looks like you guys were right. There was a mix up over Shinobi and Shinobi 2. My bad! I bought about 20 untested PCBs that day so it's hard to remember all the details on them!

Although I sent that photo to my mate and he said it looks like a Golden Axe 2!? So maybe there was some extra confusion over Golden Axe/Golden Axe 2!

Sweet, I'll check the link out. I would love a working copy!

You guys are pretty luck when it comes to cheap arcade gear. Here in Australia prices are still high, there is no way a working Shadow Dancer would be sitting on ebay with no bids!

I sometimes have a look at ebay US and I'm always amazed at some of the prices of cabinets. I reckon that SD cabinet would go for over $500 here.
