Hi guys,

Just had the flyback replaced along with a cap kit. Not 20 minutes later the color turns mostly red. If I gently press the neck board against the end of the tube, the color becomes correct. Not sure what kind of loose connection would cause this. Any thoughts?

Double check the 3 large transistors on the neck board don't have cracked solder joints. Common area since they get so hot. Don't touch the heat straps around the transistors, I believe they have higher voltage on them. Obviously poor connection on the neck itself could be possibility.

yeah it's not something I've seen a lot of but the solder to the neck socket itself can disintegrate. which means that chassis got passed around tubes a lot. lol

the color transistor heatsinks are supposed to have metal anchor tabs to prevent them from moving around. if the heatsinks touch each other because they're bendy and flexible, you can get weird colors. I always desolder the transistors out and dremel sanding bit said anchor to clean up and solder into the board properly after. much of the time they're so corroded the solder won't stick. I have visual aids, but I don't have the energy to look right now.
