I know it came in a red Z-Back dynamo, did it also come in the big blue cab as well?

Have a chance to buy a Big Blue, without a monitor (I happen to have a Wells K7000), and I can pick up a board for decent...I was thinking of doing this.

Didn't know or not if it came from the factory in this cab or not...also can someone give me dimensions on this cab please?

I'd rather have the Zback as I like that cab better but...what are peoples thoughts on the Big Blues?

I really don't have the room (not even close) but the cab is in nice nice shape...and well it would be nice...I may have to hit up someJayone in the area for some storage wink wink.

Any thoughts on the Big Blues? nice cabs or no...how "big" are they, do you know foot print or height on them? Thanks!

I love mine. I actually just picked up a second. There are a few different models, but I will measure mine up tomorrow. It's a little bigger than a Neo big red.

There is a ton of room to work in unlike the Koam cabs and almost everything is easily accessible. I need a ladder when changing my marquee light though.

I am setting my second one up with a Naomi and a Taito F3 MOBO.

I just got one recently after searching for quite a while. They are pretty big cabs for sure and the control panel sticks out a bit, but it can be removed by taking out some screws. The dimensions should be about 78-1/2" high, 28-1/2" wide, 44"deep with the CP still attached. I snagged those from an eBay auction, but I remember the dimensions being very close to mine when I measured it. I personally really like the cab, but oddly enough I played on a red Z-Back cab back in the day.

I have a Koam Z-Back (original SF:CE?) and it's a great cab. Awesome front PCB access with pull out drawer.

Z-Back FTW! :)

Thank you both very much...it sounds as though it is close in size to a midway (MK2+/KI) cab, just taller. If that is the case I may have to jump on this....shit.

So I have to finish my PC-10 ASAP and probably store Primal Rage. Ugh decisions decisions...

Ideally I would like a Z-Back but this is a nice Big Blue sans monitor which I happen to have...it is a project and I don't really want another one but...

Not to knitpick, but I thought Z-Backs came after the first CE Big Blue for some reason, since HF was what Z-Backs supposedly shipped in. Like there was a gap between the two cabinet styles. It doesn't really matter today, because both are great.

Big Blues are beasts. For comparison's sake, I have a dedicated MKII and a SSF2 big blue and the big blue requires a bit more realestate in every direction. It's taller, a tad wider and the CP sticks out in a way that requires more space than the typical cabinet. I have mine purposely located at the opening of my row of machines, where there is the most space to walk around. My version has board access at the rear of the machine, which is an issue because the machine is a PITA to move by myself. It's the only reason I am eyeballing a multi-CPS2 PCB.

...but the thing is fucking great. Nice big control panel. Most versions have a huge marquee. Some versions have big fuck off, fancy pants speakers sticking out of them (for the 90's) that compliment the Q-sound system. Once the thing is dialed in and put in place, it's a great machine. I know I am going to be very hard pressed to give up mine.

Confused this cab here looks fairly different...is this something entirely different? I R COFUZED

Thank you to all of you for the wisdoms here.

Yeah as far as I know this is the earliest version of the big blue cabinet. That one you linked to on ebay is a CPS2 era cab though they do look similar.

That's a later version. My SSF2 is exactly like this one, but with the original SSF2 CPO instead of the diamond plate.

The one posted earlier in this thread is the CE version (from what I know of the original CE version).

Still desirable IMO.

I love SuperGunGuru's cab...that would be amazing to have...I like the design on the older one better.

Decisions decisions...

The one Cj has listed looks to be the one that SSF2 was in like sausage said. The one Guru has looks to be the old SFCE cab that I used to play BITD. How I'm almost 100% sure is because of the Q sound sticker next to the square speaker boxes.

I used to play on the big blue, and Z backs are more smaller and slightly bigger than a dynamo from what I read. They remind me a lot of the Dynamo cabs that I like. But I THINK the one issue that the Z back has was access to the monitor issue we talked about yesterday.

So these sfII champ edition dynamo cabs came in red or black? I have a Z angled cab with a different control panel type that I want to convert to a SfII cab. It's currently red but thinking of painting it black but just want to know it's original color for this game.

What color would be best, red or black?

Here's my cab:

Someone correct me if I am wrong. But that is a Koam cabinet, and I believe the original color was red.

Oh and if you ever want to get rid of that beauty LET ME KNOW! :)

Yeah. It's a lot of shit that Prairied, myself and many others have gone over a hundred times. What you have is an angled cab that Prairied knows a LOT more about than I do. IIRC they weren't dedicated anything.

SFII: WW = Dynamo HS-1
SFII: CE = Dynamo HS-1, CE Big Blue, possibly Z-Back
SFII: HF = Z-Back (I've yet to find a big HF marquee that fits the CE big blue, which comes off as an off decision from Capcom)

You can mix and match the cabinets and still get away with it, because 1) it's a mess and 2) ops tossed this game into every cabinet imaginable and 3) it's your game, play on what you're comfortable with.

SSF2 forward were the Big Blues again. The Big Blues seem to be meant to be the CPS-2 systems identifiable cabinet. I don't know or paid attention to what/if Capcom officially changed their dedicated line for CPS-3 or if it was just all kits at that point (Prairied?).

omfg...I don't mean to ramble off about this subject every time, but there I go again.

Yeah I picked up 3 Angled cabs in a close out sale. I like them for route and working on but they are UGLY.

OK the Big blue that was shown in the ebay link is a Q-sound cab. They basically have a stereo amp in there IIRC. That's why they have the twin speakers.

I don't know if there was a dedicated for CPS3 games as I have not seen ded CPOs or even Side art for most of those games. I believe you are correct in that they were kits only.
The other reason why KOAM got all the ded cabs on CPS2 -> is cause they are more local to Capcom HQ (15 miles) and I'm not sure if Capcom tried to sue Dynamo like they tried to sue everyone else BITD. I think that Dynamo was working with other 6 button arcade game publishers so Capcom had a cow about it... They were more litigeous back in those days trying to scare everyone away from fighting games. I don't have all of the details but it's something along those lines...

We go off on this SO many times that we should have an "OFFICIAL DED SF/CAPCOM DED CAB QUESTIONS THREAD"
