OK,.just finished fixing this thing,.
didnt power up,.
then did,.
but blew fuses,.and sparks were flying..
replaced this,.fixed that,.
now everything works,.BUT
The game keeps resetting after ??? amount of time.
Sometimes 10 minites, sometimes 5 or 20
it does NOT have the battery on the main board,.the little circular watch type battery,.
is this battery VERY important?
Where can i get one?
ALSO,.the steering board is the main culprit,.it keeps popping and heating/smoking,
I have steering, but no feedback,.no vibrating, and the steering wheel fails in start up test.
The wheel works in gameplay,.though VERY sensitive,.barely need to touch the wheel to turn..
If i replace the steering board and battery,.am i good?
Anything else you guys know of?
All else works,.just resets,.and i have steering issues..
help?

Battery at any wal-mart or something , if you have the correct size/value.

Can you unplug the steering input to verify that's not causing reset.
Is the power supply giving a good 5.2vdc

Is steering pot working properly and correct value and wired in correctly

help

new prob...
just went downstairs to show the wife the new fixed game,.
to my embarrasment,.
it just kept resetting,.
i would get the game to start initially,.but it was like the game had a mind of its own,.
it would pick the car and track and auto trans,.then the game would start,.yet hitting gas wouldnt make the car go...
at the bottom of the screen is a picture of a radio,.
like im hitting the music or radio button,.but im NOT,.
the it resets,.
the i unplug,.
turn on,.
skip test setting,.
go to opening credits,.
then it resets before i can coin it up!
Then i go through this,.over and over.,
turn on,.skip the test menu,.go to opening screen,.game freezes,.makes a pop sound,.and resets.
reset reset reset,.
now,.im at the point,.where there is no sound,.
it used to be that when the racer lady comes on the screen,.the music started bumping,.
now if i get that far,.there is no sound,.
just silence and reset,.
is this the power supply?
Lack of a battery?
needs new hard drive?
Is the shorted steering board the culprit?
My tech is coming back,.and recharging me gas fees and other fees,.
i dont want to waste his or my time,
where should he start?
reading the power supply output?
What does this problem sound like?

help!

LOL.
Im so confused.
This game was working great 20 minutes before i showed my wife.
NO ISSUES.
Just no feedback steering,.everything worked.
clear picture,sound,.everything,.fully functional,
i go to show her,.she holds down the gas while it is starting,.and then boom,.goes to shat.
What the heck happened?

and...

yes,.i could use help with a battery name or description.
Do i ask for arcade battery?
Watch battery?
im very noob, and im feeling like my tech is taking advantage.
He says things and charges me,.and i cant argue it.
He says one minute i need a new steering board,.thats it!
Then as it starts to reset, he says the battery holds memory, and without it, the game wants to reset???
Then he says maybe we need to check the power supply again?
Or maybe we need a new hard drive...
he goes on to say, if these dont work,.maybe a new main pcb...
this game was jUST BEING PLAYED.
EVERYTHING fully functional...
what could cause sudden resetting, and loss of sound, and the game to do its own thing??

also

the area on the steering board that is the prob is the HEAT SINK and RESISTORS.
One actually snapped/cracked at the base of the board where it connect to the sink.
This board is bad right?
I need a new one?
Anyone have one?

..

Whats a processor reset?
Im reading the entire manual,.
doesnt specify battery type,.
mentions processor resets,.??
what causes this?

could the slam switch on the coin door be being activated through a short?
The manual also mentions a reset button on the pcb,.but im not understanding that..

ok..

anybody?
So,.i left the game alone for an hour or 2,.
went and turned it on,.
got sound,.got a pic,.played a game!
Then it reset,.and reset and reset,.
clearly something gets hot,.it works shortly, then caput...
guys?

Does that board have a HEATSINK FAN on one of the chips like a PC? If it does, is it running? It sounds like it may be a heat related issue?

Have you tried running the game without the back on it? Maybe run a fan blowing in to see if it helps at all?

yea

The heat sink board does have a fan mounted above it, and ot works great.
I do leave the back off,.
something on that board already blew, and im not using it,.
i have wires running through it to the main pcb, but there is one wire in particular on that board that i dont have plugged in,.
if i plug it in,.it pops and sparks,.BAD...
so i leave that wire undone,.but everything else is connected,
if i disconnect everything to that board, i get no game..

which board?

Hard to upload pix.
On this steering board, i believe the cable is the main power.
It is the plug located closest to you, on the edge of the board, between 2 fuses.
It is a 3 pronged white clip, that plugs into the board.

hmm..
well the steering feels good,.it worked, when the game worked,.
the steering board on the left side of the cabinet has the issue.
Is the item you paid $69 for the power supply?
is that what the I/O is?
that i will work on next.
What is the pot?

I can't help you fix your problem.
But I just had to comment:
Reading your posts is like reading
bad poetry.
It doesn't rhyme, and it has
no meter. But
the words are broken up
in interesting ways to make up for it.
But not really.
The poetry is still bad.

pot

OK my S F Rush the rock alk ed.chose its own cars and track wouldnt calibrate.no feedback replaced the steering board the guy on ebay has it listed as Atari I/O board got big black heat sink on it .now to pot is (potentiometer) if you slide seat all way back drop panel and steering wheel down behind steering in back you will see pot it has 3 wires to it .will make steering very sensitive. hope this helps

ok

To the guy comparing my posts to bad poetry,.sorry.
Im not writing poetry.
I may not be great with my sentence structure.
Im sorry if im no good.
AS FOR THE PROBLEM....I think i fixed it.
Tell me if this is crazy,.or possible,
but the hard drive wasnt bolted down, it wasnt level either.
I leveled it, and screwed it into place,
have been playing the game for an hour, no issue.
Is this possible?
