For the life of me I can't figure out how to disassemble the buttons so I can replace some bad bulbs. I figured the bulb/switch assembly probably just snaps into place, but hard as I try I can't seem to pull it out. There must be a trick to this because it can't be this hard.

Help me out, someone?

So I assume you already have access to the back of the buttons, it most likely is a slight twist out. Then the next most common is the straight snap in/pull out (just a hard wiggle), then the two tab squeeze.

Pretty much your second suggestion. I got this in a PM, and thought it was worth mentioning here:

original ones that were white plastic that held both the lamp and switch in it just snapped straight into the housing...gently rock it and pull out as straight as you can...or you will break the plastic..
newer style white plastic unplugs from the housing but turning counterclock wise 1/4 turn the pulls out.
yours is probably the original...plastic is most likely stuck...grap the white plastic as firmly as you can, rock it and pull like crazy.

I used pliers and a hand simultaneously with the switch left in. With a pretty good amount of gentle force and rocking, they popped out.

Thanks!

I had to replace the bulbs in my Cruisin buttons. 3 of them were easy/peasy. The fourth...DAG GONE!!!!

I ended up breaking it because it just would not release. I had to steal a replacement from the 4p button on my dart machine.
