This story is unbelieveable!!
We shipped a Punk we restored to a man in Texas (I posted pictures in the restoration area) who had been paying on it for several years ($50 a month)...the game was really nice and came out great..of course everything worked.
It arrived at this man's house on a Wednesday--the day we are closed. He called us as he was confused on putting it together. Our oldest employee John was here (he missed Mon and Tues and decided to come in and try to catch up--only our secretary is here...no other workers. He was really not familiar with it, but told him what to do...connecting the numbered plugs, etc.
The Texas guy did not call back, so we assumed all was fine! I got an email on Saturday from another Klover who said someone called and required service in Texas and was I aware of a problem. I called our customer in Texas and left a message to call me if he was having a problem. He returned my call on Monday saying his girlfriend had a friend "in the business" who came over with his other friend and they looked over the game and made this LONG list of all the problems! Blown switch line, blown logic board, blown driver board,
pins wrong, etc.....A LONG list! They didn't charge anything for the "visit".
The symptons were no playfield lights AT ALL--including computer controlled or GI. No coils, but game did have starting sounds. Displays were normal. The guy tells me as soon as he puts a fuse into the controlled lights fuseholder, it would blow whenever he pushed one of the slingshots!!!
I asked the guy when he could be IN FRONT of the machine so we could go over the game....so he called me back this morning (Tuesday).
We started in the head...all plugs in right. They we went down below the playfield and checked plugs there. THAT'S when he announced when the game got delivered, he found plugs unplugged there too! BINGO! He plugged J3 into J8, and J8 into J3! Plugs reversed, new fuse, and EVERYTHING worked perfectly.
Hmmmm...no blown driver, logic, etc...it needed NOTHING! I would think a few simple questions from the "servicemen" to the new owner would have solved this issue quite awhile ago!!!
SO----Ask people WHAT they did...but of course, this guy told me he ALREADY double checked the plugs....so I guess a triple check is in order!! Todd Tuckey from TNT Amusements
