So i purchased a k7000 chassic from a fellow member on here which was suppose to be completely gone over and redone. upon installing it in my cab i got this picture

IMAG0201.jpg

now i didn;t have time to sync of the colors but as you can see there are lines going through the screen. it this something that can be fixed or did i just by a chassis that needs more work?

i know i could probably adjust the color to get them right. i am concerned about the lines going thru it. i would have played with it a little last night but i had time to install and i had to go.

Those are the retrace lines, and are part of the normal function of the monitor. You need to lower the brightness so you can't see them.

Different games operate at different levels. It is not uncommon to have to adjust brightness, contrast, hold, etc when changing a monitor from one game to another.

Also, your tube may have aged differently than the tube the chassis was tested with before selling it to you. This means it could longer (or less time) to warm up, colors may be darker or brighter, etc. Wait until you have tried adjusting everything before we declare this one a dud...

go through and readjust everything.

yoru focus is off, your coarsebrightness is too high, and looks like color gains and biases are not quite right either.(TOO MUCH BLUE AND GREEN AT LEAST)
also vertically the image needs to go up some.
these adjustments vary from tube to tube so im not suprised that its out of adjustment.

GETTING COLORS JUST RIGHT CAN BE A PAIN, usually what i will do is get the brigtness and focus right, then go through each color. Get to a screen with some black on it. Adjust up a color untill it bleeds through, then turn back down slightly untill it does not bleed through.

Ideally when your done you should have pure black colors. If they have a hue or red green or blue then readjust. repeat etc.. that will get your close. You may need to fine tune to your personal tastes.

youll get there.

TO do this right youll want a big mirror so you can be behind the machine adjusting and see your adjustments in real time via the mirror. Also take the time to clean the face of the tube and the bezel, youll be suprised how nasty they can get.

got it pretty down pat. it took quite ahile to get right using a mirror but the color are great, but i do have a hiccup. the screen could go down more (about an inch) but i turn the knob all the way to reposition it and where it sits it won;t go any lower.

I'm the guy that sold this to him. This is a perfectly working chassis. It looks like the flyback knob needs to come down. Way down. And yes, when going from tube to tube, the knobs will all need to be adjusted to make them look good for said monitor.

Keep me posted on how it turns out!!!

turn up your vertical size a lil it looks a lil squished. then you should be able to move it down from there.

john rainbo is AWESOME. i might have jumped the gun on figuring it out but lately it seems like my machine all want to act up and i was a little concerned. i got the thing shipped quickly and it was packaged EXTREMELY well. just trying to fill out the monitor now. sorry i am green and working my way to being blue when it comes to repairing these myself.
