Hi, I've got a duramold Blaster and I didn't notice it's service switches had been removed until I changed the batteries with the power off...

"FACTORY SETTING RESTORED"

The manual says I now have to hit ADVANCE twice to get to game-over mode, so I have a problem.

It's stuck on this screen, and turning it off and on several times didn't help.

Short of wiring up a whole new service switch assembly what can I do? According to the schematics it LOOKS like shorting the ADVANCE wire to the GROUND wire on 2J3 might work to advance the game?

Also I would check your memory protect switch.. if thats closed you can't make any adjustment or use of those buttons.

Switch

I think I've got an extra service switch around here if you want it.. If you push the reset switch on the CPU pcb, and then wait a minute or 2, I think the factory settings screen goes away.. Put some batteries in it, and add credits. That may help.. But get a service switch as its a pain without it.

Man, I'd love a blaster!!!!

Thanks for the re-assurance. It seems like just the act of rigging a shorting wire to the advance pin did the trick because it's working now. Looking at the schematics there's a lot of weirdness in this Blaster, ie: missing service switches and no memory interlock wiring.

Also check out the rom board. It's got the 30 level game installed instead of the 9(?) I think that's typically intalled. Many of the Roms are marked "proto" with multiple stickers like they've been burned many times. IS this a proto board?
