What the hell :(

The Hyperball saga continues. Game takes approx 10 minues to come up to be playable (lights come up slowly, Hyper Cannon needs to "charge" so to speak).

Now this. Credit Display out, Player 1 missing 1 digit, PF diaplay missing 1 digit.

I give up.

Basics need to be performed.
Inspect molex connectors for burns and replace where needed.

Missing digits is usually indicative of a cold solder joint issue or a trace on the display broke. With the machine on start LIGHTLY flexing the board and see if it lights the digit up. Most likely a cold solder joint.

And the machine taking time to come on could also be a cold solder joint. The machines got enough age on it and I'm sure it could use some solder reflowed in spots especially the molex headers.

Ugh - that sucks - and I know you just recently got your boards back from repair too!

Looks like Strobe 8 is responsible for both missing digits - possible quick fix for the display is to reseat J7 on the MPU board (top of the board, right-most connector). Do J6 right next to it while you're at it - that may help the credit/match display.

Otherwise, definitely try reseating other connections first - if you didn't have the male/female connectors swapped out recently, try re-seating where the MPU and driver board mate up. I occasionally have to do this even on games that have had that connector replaced. Check your other connections as well - flaky connections can definitely cause these symptoms.

Also, verify your voltages look good from the PSU - given the 10 minute warmup time, it may be a low voltage situation where the PSU has to warm up a bit before the voltage climbs to the correct level.

Good luck!

No problem, let me know what time tonight is good and I'll be by to take it off your hands. :D

Um, yeah.

The sad thing is that it is already sold. I am holding it until December when the buyer is in the area. He said I could play it and he knows of the other issues, but I am afraid they may back out once they learn of this development :(

I do let them know when stuff goes wrong. We had an agreement that I store the game until he can pick it up and it;s ok if I play it :)

Yikes. Sorry did not know that. :(

No worries :) There's no way you would have known that. Had it not already been sold, I might have gome TNT on it and thrown it off the roof, LOL.

Finally watched that video, wow so sad to see that Last Action Hero chucked off, the parts man, the parts....... It's like not being a donor on your on license.
