Ok. Hear me out.

Let's use Dug Dug as an example...

There were uprights, cocktails and cabarets.

It's been said that there are approximately 500 cabarets that were made.

Would all serial numbers match on the cab and boards?

Would it be a duplicate number if there is an upright with the same serial number? Is that possible?

Or, did they have different serial numbers on the cabs and pcbs for all versions?

The serial numbers overlap between cabinet types. Some games have a prefix indicating the cabinet type, ex "UR00172" for an upright, others do not. The game serial number is usually printed on the square game ID sticker, as well as smaller rectangular stickers affixed to the power brick, AR1/2, PCB, and monitor.

There's usually a serial number written on the PCB in permanent marker, and the monitor sometimes has a serial number from its manufacturer. These are unrelated to the game serial number.
