Has anyone sold one of their grails this year or in recent years to pay bills and such? I know Friz sold his SW Cockpit. I've sold a few this year and thinking of selling a couple more. Do you take whatever you can get or do you hold on to them because they will not go for what you want at the moment? I'm trying to make a last minute push on my CC's for the year and eventually we'd like to get a house.

So far this year I have sold

Berstine Bears Moppet
Pirate Treasure Moppet
Dedicated Leprechaun Moppet
Crystal Castles Moppet
Tugboat and Noah's Ark Projects Moppets

Next up for grabs is a DK custom Moppet. I think done by Exidy (member here). The first time I saw pics of it I said to myself if I ever get a chance to trade for or buy it I will not sell it. I ended up trading for it. Now here I am considering selling it. Will sell the PCB (Last time had small graphical issues) and Jamma Adapter separate. I plan on putting a 60-1 in it and taking to Super Auctions.

Also considering selling my Crystal Castles Mini (Midway cabinet Not done by me). I need to figure out one issue with it before selling. (Sometimes the sceeen will be scrambled when the CP is hooked up. Not hooked up a perfect pciture). Would take it to Super Auctions as well. i think I will miss this one the most as I love Crystal Castles. Not quite the same as the dedicated version but a lot lighter and easier to move.

I haven't done it.....yet. Well, not lately. Read below.

Sorry you're in the situation where you need to :(. I was there years ago and sold some games that I considered prized (to me anyway). I sold Roadblasters, Black Knight pinball, Hyperball, Space Duel, and a few others. If you look at my signature, I have re-aquired most of them at this point.

Hope you can take care of what you need to and get the games you love again. Life happens and you need to take care of you first and foremost.

I haven't even obtained my grails yet, but just wanted to comment that you're in kind of an different position then most since the games you like are so unusual.

I would probably take what I could get for them. If I remember correctly, the one you sold that fell out of your truck went for what I considered a surprisingly high price.

Yeah the Pirate Treasue did well but it was my best looking one. I have 3 others but none of my orginal monitors work. I could put one of my boards in my converted Lep but it was having issues. I loaned the Lep board out.

My Berstine Bears NWing with Tug Boat project and extra boards for TB did relly well and helped knock down some debt. But there is always more I can do.

Had to pass on two grail cabinets (Same cabinet) for one of my grails that the cabinet is shot. Don't think I will ever sell that one (Street Football) and plan on keeping my UB-QB which one day I will get it fixed. I have a number for a guy who can work on it. The price was good on one of the cabinets but just to far away. Hoping one will turn up at a local super auctions (Bally Sente Wood cabinet).

All but Lep and Noah's Ark they went to a friend in TX who collects them as well. Noah's Ark was a major project so DirkDDS passed on it. But my buddy had a mint cabinet I traded him years ago and that was his favorite game. The Lep was in mint condition. I can remember when I submited my bid and saw that I won it on ebay. I was in the library at University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

Kinda sad to think back to 01 before I got hooked on ebay (Atari 2600, Colecovision) and arcade games and before I bought my truck I had 12,000 saved up and no debt. I ended up buying my truck and about 3 months later quit my job as I didn't like the management. I sold off my Atari 2600 collection and the business side of it for really good money (Too two separate people). Got decent money for my Colecovision collection and put all that twoards my truck. I had loaned my dad 12K to pay off our house which he paid back 1k month. I paid my truck off in 1 year. I need to keep it running for another 10 to 15 years. It's a 01 and 10 years old (170K+ miles).

I've done decent this year on my debt but I see where I could have done more. Will leave out the debt stuff as that will come soon in my end of year debt thread.

Yep, well...I didn't sell any games, but I did let my grail car go to pay some bills...

It was a 1956 VW ragtop beetle. Fully restored, Cal-look (if anyone knows what that is) and a stroker engine. I'd post a picture of it but it's still painful to look at em.

Wait, someone bought that Crystal Castles? The one with the side art?

How has the thread gone this long with no picture?

OK... who now owns Crystal Castles moppet? What did they pay?

Okay...Dammit! Why wasn't I notified this piece of history was being sold? Who got the KLOV heirloom?

From what I remember reading, it's supposed to show up at the next CAX so people can have their picture taken next to it... :D

(I hope!)

No grails sold yet. Hope I never have to. One of the 'nice' things about this hobby is that these things have very low resale value, so I don't think I'll ever be selling my games to make a mortgage payment, or anything...

It wasn't Dirkdds who got the CC Moppet. Another klover in CA who posted in a thread that he had bought it got it. I will let him chime in if he wishes. He pmed me asking if I would sell it. Didn't really want to but said make an offer. And he made a offer that was decent so I took it.

I may try and sell my VW baby as well. A 71 Super Beetle Auto-stick. It's still at the shop in Arkansas. My dad didn't crank it up on a regular basis so he took it to a shop to get running again. I may try and sell it there one more time before bringing it to Dallas. I really want to keep it though. But I think if I can get X amount for it how much that will help on the CC and lower the minimums and the amout of interest I pay each month.

I haven't had to lately. They weren't really grails at the time but I sold my Major Havoc (Space Duel cabinet) and DK Jr (put a lot of time into repainting and restoring). MH is now sort of a grail. I've got others that are ahead on the priority list but I would really like to have that one back.

i haven't sold grails, but i have sold games from time to time and realized that the money got from it didn't help whatever enough to justify selling the game, so i don't planning on selling any of mine at any point. not to mention that one, like my satan's hollow, took me long enough to find.

Being totally serious, I have never figured out the appeal of those Moppet games. They seem a little creepy. I understand the appeal of rarity or the odd-factor, so that must be it. Please inform me.

Moppet Video was a childs size cabinet about 3 and a hlaf feet tall and white. They produced 6 games. I like them becuase they are easy to move and rare. The only one I played as a kid was Pirate Treasure. Once I started getting a few I just kept going. And my personality about anything I collect is go big or go broke LOL. Now I am sliming down to just what I really like.
