I decided to get rid of certain items I don't need and was searching around for the value of a Ms.Pac-man control panel so I'd know what price to put on it.

Ebay is of course not good for this, but it's really all we have for reference.

The closest item/condition to what I have on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Ms-Pacman-origi...emQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3ca2ae7db9

The seller is asking for about twice as much as I thought a Ms.Pac-man cp would be worth.(But I'd like to be wrong about this). :)

Anyway, I'm familiar with the markets collectors here tend to buy from, but I was wondering if those here who routinely sell their arcade related items generally get more for them on eBay than any other venue.

(I'd assume the knowledgeable collector's market, like that here on KLOV, would usually pay the least amount except for the special items the general public is ignorant about).

Thanks.

75 sounds fair for a complete ready to install panel - especially if the overlay's ok. Think about it - an original j/s in good condition goes for 30, and a new overlays at least 40. Throw in the cost of a new metal cp from AS and your well over the 75, not to mention shipping, and wiring, and the 2 buttons.

I remember a certain time when you listed some parts for sale that I enquired about. You were asking retail price for an item that you had no idea if it worked. You said you were basing your prices off of Quarterarcade.

You can ask what ever you want it's yours after all. This isn't about price policing but I think people like yourself should realize you're not a retail shop. You are an individual "hobbiest" that doesn't have over head to pay off. People aren't prone to or likely to pay retail prices here especially if your item is easily had else where. Take it FWIW

That would be the Crystal Castles control panel.

I really didn't see it as necessary to drop a price because someone else is paying "over head".

I remember saying it had been some years since the CP was last tested working. So I guess technically you can call it untested like the one at Quarter Arcade.

And when I compared mine to the one I saw at Quarter Arcade and factored in their description, mine seemed to be in better aesthetic condition, and with a better feeling trackball.(Which I'd since sold since I found another trackball, albeit somewhat little less in condition).

And I was throwing in a trackball kit(which Bob charges $23 for) anyway.

Despite this I was still asking the same price they were asking for theirs.

You remember correct, it was a CP. You never tested the panel even after I dropped you a few friendly reminders which you responded to one stating, "You hadn't had time". I gave up on you and stopped sending PM's because it was clear you had no intentions of ever testing it. You had time Darren - you chose not to. You chose to work on everything else you've had. P

And yes you did offer a rebuild kit. The bearings weren't ever a question. I asked you to test it to ensure the wiring harness and the optical boards were good.

As I mentioned in another post, you can certainly ask what ever you want - but when say you want to sell something then follow through. You flaked on me and making excuses doesn't justify what you did as being ok.

I didn't "flake" since no deal was made.(Or could be made unless I could honestly tell you I recently tested it working).

And what I said was I had no way to test the trackball. I had considered using my Millipede game until you pointed out that the trackball pin-outs were not the same.

So I came up with the idea to just make a little hack to allow me to test it in my Millipede anyway. But that was before I knew that my AR PCB and/or Millipede PCB itself wasn't working.(Or perhaps it's "Big Blue").

Anyway, I told you all this.

your price should depend on condition of the item
here's a ms pac cp that quarter arcade is asking $50 plus shipping for. It's complete but the cpo is done.

this one sells from arcade shop for $125 plus shipping

BTW the ms pac cp in your ebay link looks to me to be the same condition as the quarter arcade one. Except the ebay one has an extra hole cut for that funky square button that most people would want to go away. I would say that ebay panel is overpriced due to condition.

I would say if you are looking for top dollar for an item, ebay is usually your best bet.

If I were offering an original, complete, like new ms pac cp to the crowd here I think I would ask $80-90 shipped as my starting price. Possibly be wiling to reduce price if it doesn't sell at that price. As a general estimate I'm assuming this will cost around $20 to ship within the US.

I wish you would've just stayed in touch and told me what you were up against. A part is never a life and death deal and clearly you had something come up beyond your control.

Thanks. All that makes sense.

Arcade shop is still a lot cheaper than Two Bit when you add everything up.

I said mine is similar to the one on eBay I referenced because it also needs a new overlay. But it doesn't have a ridiculous square hole like the eBay one.:

But as far as selling arcade stuff in general there seems to be large fluctuations in eBay prices. So I guess normal retailers who sell used items are the best bet for comparison.

Ok...

But since nothing changed on my end since my last pm, what would I say?

A simple update - something like, "I'm having problems with my test machine" would've made all the difference. We'll agree to disagree - you feel you did nothing wrong and I simply would've liked an update. Good luck on your sales.

That was similar to the last pm I sent you.

I guess you were looking for me to PM you on a regular basis.

Anyway. No problem.
