Are homemade 60-1's illegal to build and sell? I see all the stuff about mame and what not, but i had a guy say he was going to get us busted for sellings the multi games, along with all our namco products. Not worried about namco as we are an authorized dealer. I am curious about the 60-1's though. If they are illegal we wont sell them anymore but i need verification of this.

They are unlicensed Chinese bootlegs. You might even be putting your Namco distributorship at risk if they find out about it. Your basically selling pirated copies of the ROMs on an embedded MAME board.

Wow thanks, for some reason i thought it was different than mame. Gonna take them off the site right now. Is there a way to sell a legal version then?

You could license every title on the boards from their respective owners. That's about it.

Yeah I believe that's why the 3-in-1's are so expensive is because they are actually licensed(Not 100% sure of this though).

I don't think there is a legal option available other than the Ultracade type stuff. The manufacturers want their money. If someone came out with a licensed 48-in-1 it would be expensive. Think about what the real multi-games from Namco go for and that is like three games on the board. It would be nice if there was a legal option so people could do the right thing. Some would.

But then arcades would have a bunch of 48-in-1 machines and not the originals and it would suck :(

Does one company own all thr rights, Im sure i could look it up but one of you probably already know. I guess in my stupidity or lack of experience I assumed when you bought the board from someone and installed it you had purchased the right to do so.

No, each company should own its own rights. For a namco game you need to their licensing, for an Atari game your need theirs and so on.

Thanks for all the info, it seems the safe thing to do is not to sell them at all. Not trying to break any laws over here.:)

the guy calling you out is probaly just another seller of the multi games and is pissed that you are cutting his cost

i have gotten 2 emails like that and bolth ended up being another fuck on craigslist selling multi games(i found out cause i emailed asking about games and recived a reply with the same email adress as the douche that sent me the email saying he was reporting me )

I have seen a lot of people selling jamma cabs set up for a multi board and "giving away" a free board along with the purchase of the cab.

No, they were not licensed. They were expensive because they were the first to come out. I can't believe people used to pay $300+ for those... the emulation is even worse than the 48-in-1!

If your a coin-op distributor I wouldnt touch those boards with a 100 foot pole! Namco is well known for coming down on people too. The only multi's I'd sell as a legit distrib is those Global Arcade's.

FYI, Namco not only owns their own stuff but some Nintendo stuff too. They might even have some Atari IP...

Yeh we havent sold any on the site, it just launched fully a few days ago. Took them off today. We have the Global arcades as well so we are good.

Whoever mentioned it was a competitor was right but it was from a namco competitor, they dont sell mutli's. It was BMI. They sent an email to our site and called us names and shit, they didnt think we were even a namco dealer. Its all sorted out now. Thanks again for the responses.

I've never purchased anything from BMI because their quoted prices are out of control. However, thats the way distributorship works these days. Keep an eye out for any lines that the other guy might cross then sick the dogs on them... Moss Distributing used to get into all kinds of s*** with other WMS distribs all over the country.
