Seller Scam?

I think this should be "the rule." If a bidder does not honor their winning bids, then ALL their bids should be invalid. Of course this would mean eBay both doing the right thing AND making less money in the process, so it will never happen.

Amen! It really should be a rule.

If the last bidder backs out then their bid is invalid. It should revert back to where the price was before the last bidder jumped in, which is what I offered to buy it for, and the seller declined.

You probably know this already but you are not alone. This pisses me off to no end as well. But, in the end, I either decide I am willing to pay and accept or not willing and decline. Usually the former because I only go to eBay when it is something I cannot find anywhere else already. Sounds like the seller did you a favor in the end by being incompetent and not knowing how to run it up to your max without going over it since you said you bid too much anyway. That may be the silver lining in this cloud. :)
 
The seller left the winner of the auction positive feedback. Not something I would do if someone backed out on me.
