I was just looking for a common consensus.

If any of you guys had two cocktail games(Arkanoid-R.O.D./ Rally-X) that you wanted to get rid of, would you sell as is or slap some black laminate on them and convert them to one of those multi-games first while selling the parts?

Thanks.

Nah i would just sell them. Why make something when theres 1000's of them out there.

Maybe someone is looking for these games.

I say try to sell them whole and if nobody bites for as low as $250 (or however low you wish to go; $250 is usually my limit), then Multicade them. They arent "highly" cherished or sought after, so IMO theres not really that big of a loss.

And you can also think of it this way; if you sell the unnecessary parts you take out of those games (like the PCB, Power Supply, Wiring, etc) then you just made all the people who needed those parts very happy AND you made a nice return on investment for the parts you bought to convert them in the first place. Win-Win.

You might get money for the arkanoid parts, don't think you would get much for the rally x stuff.

Try to sell them first. Then I would kit Arkanoid-R.O.D. Rally x should be last resort as its a dedicated game.

Don't convert the Rally X! You shuold be able to get at least decent cash for that one. It is a great game as well... and somewhat rare.

I agree. If one came up around here I'd get it, the kids love it. They play it for hours on one of the Playstation greatest hits discs.

I would try to sell the Rally X as is because of it being a dedicated classic. As mentioned, there aren't many around, especially cocktails. However, you can probably tell Revenge of Doh what to go do with itself without hurting very many feelings. Tons of multis out there. I think many of us here have built their fair share of them (myself included). Would it be worth it to convert the Doh back to whatever it was? (might be difficult to tell in a cocktail cabinet)

The Arkanoid-R.O.D. was originally a Galaxian. And I just happen to have Galaxian PCBs along with complete cocktail control panels.

The Rally-X can technically be converted to Pac-man since I believe they used the same cabinet. And I have to do some wood work on it anyway. (That is why I was considering re-laminating and multi-gaming it).

Thanks everyone.

I wonder if you can rotate the monitor in a Rally X. It doesn't look like it would go in there in the vertical position. The Galaxian seems like it would go back together ok. Building a wiring harness wouldn't be much fun. You can modify a Pac harness if you know what you're doing.

It would take some work, but the Rally-X monitor can be rotated. You'd of course need new Glass art to go with any conversion.

I know someone who wants to get rid of a Galaxian harness. But I could use one of my Pac-harnesses with a small change, or a JAMMA harness with an adaptor.
