I had recently aquired a Sega Turbo for free... The game worked great after I got a new board set from QuarterArcade. I turned it on the other day and the gas pedel stopped working. I suspect bad opto.. But to my lookin I see that someone had did a hack repair. Has anyone sub'd this with a Microswitch... Beings it only does one function.. On and off...

I got a nice heavy duty microswitch thats used in Rowe Jukeboxes.. I'm gonna fabricate in place of the microswitch... I also tracked down and the correct wires to make it happen. And can play the game while closing them ;)

I figure I would share my "mod" with everyone so if they come across one thats in bad shape like mine that anything is possiable ... (almost like my Discs of Tron) :D

Hmm. I would have expected it to be a potentiometer for variable output based on pedal position and not just on or off. I have never looked on my Turbo, though. :)

Turbo's gas pedal is definitely variable in its output, so an on-off won't be much good once you get to the bonus round and need to drive a little slower to stay alive.

the throttle on mine was acting up when it first came home but after stepping on it a few times i guess the crud broke loose and its on point now. its a pretty tough game, im no pro but i usually find my self throwing it in low gear to maintain a lower speed. any pics of yours? the one i picked up was one of those tiny mini cabs off CL for $100 delivered

Turbo sucks...or at least doing a complete restoration does. I'm just waiting for my monitor boards to get fixed by Chad and then I have to see if either of the 2 PCBs work...I think I also have a sound issue. Will have a full thread when it's finally done!

I got a working sound board if needed. My Sega turbo the damn CPU developed a weird issue with growing building and such.. so I replaced everyboard from QuarterArcade.com. Let me know...
