I picked up a Sega Turbo cabaret a few days ago.

It's got some issues, for sure.

I have two sets of boards. One shows the following screen:
attachment.php

The other shows an image, a little glitchy, but the main problem is, the steering isn't working.

on the optical board behind the wheel, one of the LEDs flashes when the wheel is turned, but the other stays on constantly.
no steering works.

Last, the scoreboard at the top isn't working. I was told it worked, but then just stopped one time. It has a newer ribbon cable running to it
Any suggestions?

so... no one has any ideas?

Here's an update...

I took most of yesterday afternoon and this morning tearing it down and rerouting the wires.

The same issues are occuring. It works, but no steering.

One thing, the score board. It wasn't working, but now it is half way working. And, when I say half way, I mean pretty much exactly. Every other 7 segmant display is working flawlessly... and every other one is only lighting up a few segments

The steering was not working on mine, but I think I cleaned the E connector and it started to work. I would suspect dirty or loose connectors.

I also have a board thats glitchy. I spent zero time in trying to figure it out. reseathing the chips did nothing.

Well, the E connector runs directly to the monitor, so it's probably another connector.

I basically rewired the entire cab, at least management wise. I will try cleaning the connectors, and reflowing some of the solder

Here's a direct question.

On the circuit board behind the steering wheel, there are two optical sensors and two LEDs. Are BOTH LED lights supposed to flash when the wheel is turned?

Right now, I have one that flashes and one that stays constant

i'll dig out my turbo cabaret tomorrow and see what mine does with the steering.

as for your other probs.... can't help ya. these pcb's are a pain. i have 3 board sets. 1 dead, 1 sorta works.... sometimes... and 1 set that works but with a building glitch.

Awesome. Hope you can help

just checked mine and that might be your problem. They should both go on and off. If you turn the wheel very slowly, they are about 1/2 of cycle out of sync.

#1 will be on with #2 off
#1 will be on with #2 on
#1 will be off with #2 on
#1 will be off with #2 off

sorry If I typed E connector. I meant to type B connector.

Got the same issue with my score display panel on my mini. Not skilled enough to provide much help but I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

Awesome! That's what I needed to know... kinda helps me narrow it down... maybe the second sensor is out of whack/needs replaced.

If I find the solution first, I'll be sure to let you know, otherwise I hope you do the same.

On mine, after cleaning the cabinet out, dusting everything, My display works half way... pretty much like this (if they were all showing 88888 as the score, every other one works great, and the others have only random segments up):
attachment.php

It's a nice pattern... does it mean anything?
