I had posted this problem in the monitor area, but I'm starting to believe it's a board issue.

Problem is I can't get the contrast bumped up to where it needs to be. It has graphics issues beyond that, but the contrast is the main one for now.

To even see the color, I have to crank the screen control up. To get rid of the raster lines sort of kills the picture.

I've noticed the issue is worse or better depending on what boardset I pop in. Anyone have any experience with this?

I'm not the most experienced, but I recently (and successfully!) replaced caps and transistors on my Turbo. I followed this guide: http://home.comcast.net/~mtpacifico/_kenskorner/files/Sega-Nanao Model MC-2000-S Repair Guide.pdf

I replaced all of the electrolytic caps (cap kit). To get rid of the vertical lines (jail bars) on my screen, I also replaced the two transistors (Q401 and Q402) and the tantalum capacitor (C408). This cleaned the picture right up! I'd probably turn down the flyback dials before placing the chassis back in the game tho. My screen was solid white on boot up and I got frustrated for a couple of minutes. Then I remembered to turn down the dials. I can't imagine it is good for the flyback to be turned up all the way, esp once the rest of the monitor is working properly. If this is your first time removing a monitor board, check out a guide on safely discharging the tube first.

Where it does the same thing regardless of boardset, I'm led to believe it is not the boards causing this. However, these boards are flaky and could have other issues. I'm currently trying to get at least 1 of 3 sets working. So far, I was at least able to get my sound board working. Good luck on yours!
