Just picked up a Sega Turbo full-size upright. Game seems to play (LED score increments) but monitor image has collapsed to a single 3/8" wide band and there is no sound. Will try connecting another monitor to see if that resolves video issues. Don't know anything about Turbo, but it has a lot of boards/connectors! Anybody have schematics or general advice/recommendations to share? Much appreciated...

1. Watch out for weird ass voltages. That monitor runs on 100v, not 120v. You will not be able to simply swap out the monitor with another.
2. Sound boards are more commonly not working than working. Don't know why, but that's what people report and what I found.
3. I couldn't find a manual or any schematics online. You can find one from a bunch of people here for probably $15-20 shipped.

BTW-That's a pretty nice looking machine.

Thanks for the tips - I did find a complete manual w/ schematics online. I'll take the voltage into consideration in testing another monitor. Here's hoping the volume is just turned down (couldn't be that lucky could I?).

BTW - checked out your Turbo resto thread - Nice work! I can't wait to see te game pay and hear the rumble again from that speaker!

Tried another monitor and was able to get good video, so that's a plus. However, I realized the monitor is smaller than the 19" monitor I have available to throw in. Anybody I can send the Nanao chassis to for repair (I really don't have the time/desire to screw with it). If not, I'll probably hack in a 17" PC monitor w/ converter board.

As for the audio, the subwoofer surround was completely rotted out. Hooked up another speaker to test and adjusted both the subwoofer and main speaker volume controls. Was able to get just a few sounds - the countdown at the start and the time-is-running-out countdown at the end of play, but that's it. Bad sound board? Bad amplifier? Ideas?

I have a Turbo as well, mine also has the smaller monitor. It's actually a 16" according the the manual my game came with. I do know that the games also came with 19" monitors, I assumed it would be easy to swap one in, I've had that in the back of my head as something to do one of these days. But I didn't know there were funny voltage issues to consider, so maybe I'll just leave it as-is.

The sound boards are definitely flaky, I have a working one in there now, but 2 others are missing sounds, one has all but 1 or 2 sounds, the other has different ones missing..

One of these days I'll poke around with them and see if I can isolate the part that's faulty on the ones with missing sounds, but I'm not really an electronics guy, so it'll be more blind luck than anything else if I get them working again. I figured I might try replacing caps, which is said to fix similar Zaxxon issues, another Sega game from the same era.

My 10" woofer was completely shot, I found a replacement 8-ohm online, made a huge difference. The bass from the motor as you accelerate through the tunnel is awesome and worth the trouble of tracking down a suitable replacement.
