I have a one of these Sega Twin drivers shown in the flyer below. What other sega titles are compatible with it and what would be the easiest title to convert it over to? It is a Model 2 cpu platform. I think the game is so difficult that it takes the fun out of it. If I can't convert it fairly easily or inexpensively I will probably sell it. I am also looking for the plastic "RACE LEADER" marquee. I dont need the entire topper. Just looking for the plastic insert. The one I have is cracked and looks like crap.

Dang! I have never seen that game before! Looks like a lot of fun; would love to drop a few quarters in it!

here's a start.

did you try to set it to easy?

Thanks for the link. I will check it out! I have tried different settings but have not found one that allows me or any of my buddies to finish much higher then 4th or 5th if were lucky. :(

I don't think it was very popular. Probably due to it being so difficult.

Difficult is fun! I put my PPII on 6 laps and both Preliminary and Extended ranks on "D". It is no fun to finish first all the time, like in SF RUSH...

I believe somebody said that you need to stay with in striking range of the first and second car and overtake the spots on the last two laps or so. If you do well during most of the game, the computer will make it more difficult for you.

It's compatible with INDY 500. I believe it's ROM swap and possibly the sound board.

There is another KLOV'r who mostly collects racing games and could give you the information for the conversion. It's not that hard. I believe you could buy a Top Skater board for cheap and do the swap if you wanted to keep your touring car championship board original.

Indy 500 is not a bad game and still makes money in arcades.

There is a third game which works on this platform but I can't think of it now. It was only released in Japan and I believe it was inferior to the Indy 500 and STCC. There is also a game called Rev On which is fairly similar and may be compatible but may need more effort to work in your cabinet.

I will give that a try. Thanks for the tip.

It would be sweet to play Indy 500 on a second board. I will keep my eye out for Indy and Top Skater boards. I have a eprom burner so, I could burn the roms if it is really that easy. Any idea who the KLOV Sega guru is? Thanks!!

Man, STCC just doesn't get much love...
It was a really cool concept, but sadly the end-product was lacking. Its got some incredible tunes, though.

As for the conversion, Indy 500 will work, and it uses the same drive board and FF setup. It is actually easier to go from STCC to Indy than vice-versa, as STCC uses a secondary sound board, while Indy relies solely on the main stack. However, you will need an entire Indy stack for the conversion as the two games run on different revisions of the Model 2 hardware. If you are into burning EPROMs, you can pick up any Model 2-B stack and burn the ROMS. The stack can be used with your filter board as the 2-C and 2-B boards used the same.

You could also run Over Rev or Super Gt 24h - if you can find them. I'm not 100%, but I think these two utilize security boards. This would, of course, rule out burning the ROMS and dropping them onto the requsite stacks. These two would really only be for novelty purposes, though, as they are pretty crappy compared to the Sega games.
