I bought a working GP Rider board on ebay, confirmed it was working in my Afterburner cab and I want to make it into an Afterburner to replace my messed up board no one wants to repair.

What do I need to swap besides the eproms? Anything? I swapped a total of 18 chips, everything with an "epr-" sticker on it. Am I missing something? It won't boot as it is now.

I've gone over it carefully to make sure everything is facing the right direction and there's no bent legs or anything like that...

I swapped out both of those giant chips, whatever they are and it didn't work so I tried one at a time. It didn't work with the hitachi from GP but it needed the other great big chip?

So now it's running but with messed up graphics:

The one with the SN tag in this picture I swapped from the GP:

OK it's not letting my upload pictures.

Those MPR froms, there's two of them?

I'll try swapping those now..

EDIT: Oh never mind, there's a bunch! OK swapping, thanks for the tip.

hrm, the only issue now is some lines on some of the enemy planes. It seems to get worse if I'm banking left and right. Oh and the motor also is not shaking but I have not looked at it at all yet.

On dip switch settings, can someone tell me what upright 1 and 2 are? Does it matter how this is set as long as it's set to upright?

Oh my God does that shake. It was unplugged. Now I notice lights are not working. However the wiring is pretty spliced up and there's a cut ground wire hanging there.

Congrats on getting it working.
The Hitachi will only work for GP Rider, so you don't need it.
As for the lines in the planes, double check if theres no bent pins on the roms you swapped.

Whoo thanks for the input, I'll try. I don't know what anything is or does I'd be lost without this information. Thanks!

It's now 100% working and in the arcade. It also turned out to be Afterburner 2 chips in my non-working board. Thanks again!

What is the difference between After Burner and After Burner 2?

I'm really not sure as I hadn't played either for years. I didn't know it was 2 until I took this picture and saw the II. I didn't pay attention to the logo when I was testing it and did a double take when I saw the picture.

First one was fun, 2nd must be twice as fun!

glad to see you got it working (and with a bonus).
