So my SSGT has been acting up lately. The background 3d graphics goes nuts. you only see it on the bottom of the screen and it's the top part of the background. So you are looking into the air. The speed and lap times are all there. Some times it comes back to normal. Any clue?

We just had a problem with ours. No back ground images but the scores, cars and other foreground objects were there. Turns out we had a bad fan on the pcb cage. The board were overheating....
Replaced the fan and all is well.

Maybe that is your problem?

yup. One of the fans is not turning. Makes no sense especially when the board doesn't work right when it's just powered on. I could see it after a few games when everything gets warmed up. I hope changing the fan works.

checked the fan. looked like a loose connection. Still no dice. I used another spare board I had and got it to work. I'm thinking maybe it's a loose connection somewhere or noisy wires crossing the video cable. I'll change the wire dressing tonight to see if it works.

have some kind of problem like that. but videoboard test gives some "polygon fifo" errors... IC83 & IC84. the shame is feeling lonely, nearly nobody on internet talks about these problems :( . will try to swap boards again.. (screen would not display anything on first attemps..)

IMO, these things are new enough that it's hard for Joe Blow to repair them --- unless the most basic problems occur.

I've never had him do any work for me, but Ken at http://www.irepairsega.com/ seems like a nice guy. I've emailed him a couple of times and he was always friendly in his responses. You might ping him and see if he can repair or help.

thanks for tip. i seen his website times ago. but our problem is ...europe ! costs a lot to send/backup anything heavy from here. in europe some repair these model2/3 but it's not fair price even... (Avranches, ...)

let's just hope many amateurs get these things so more hints deploy . (it's the case sometimes with previous Daytona1 (which professionnals don't care anymore))

Replace this 2 ram IC (IC83 & 84) and it will work again.
