I just purchased some Sega STV games and a motherboard. No matter what game I plug in the sound is garbled. The video works fine as does the controls. I have played with the jamma connector and adjusted the volume coming from the board but all that does is make the garbled noise softer or louder. You can still hear the sound effects through the noise but it almost sounds like I am only getting one channel even though it is mono jamma standard. I have plugged in numerous other jamma boards and they all play fine but any of the STV stuff is garbled.

Any ideas?

I'd start by looking at the audio signal with an oscilloscope or audio probe. If it's clean coming out of the digital part of the board then recap the audio section.

Aren't the STV boards a little power hungry too if I recall ?
Like maybe needing to bump the power supply up a tad ?

I just got another board for cheap so I will try that out first. If I get the same result then I know it has to be the power supply.

Sorry Channelmanic, but I don't have equipment like that to test.

Bummer!

If it's the board, I should be able to fix it if you need.

Words of warning: Be careful to NOT flex the STV board! They are very susceptible to popping legs loose on those tiny little SH-2 processors on the back corner of the board. There are 144 hair thin pins on each little chip.
