I bought a large lot of boards last fall,
and put many up for sale

http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=161618

I'm still digging through the pile, and found some Sega STV stuff.

3 mohterboards and 2 carts. (Die Hard and Decathlete )

One mobo works fine but the other two seem to hang on the boot screen.

I really don't know much about these games
and a local collector wants to buy the working mobo.

So I'm just looking for a fair price.

I'm not looking to rob the guy, but I'd like to know if this is worth $20 or $200 ...

Thanks,
Steph

[BTW : All the boards in the referenced ForSale link above are still available,
and I found a few more MK2 boards.. ]

A guy on Ebay wants $85 shipped, but it comes with a Winter Heat cartridge. I'd say a fair price is more like $50-$60, throw in a common cart like Die Hard Arcade and say $75.

That's what I had figured...

Thanks for the info.

Cheers,
Steph

Steph,

On the 2 that hang, reflow the 2 surface mount CPUs. It's a common problem for that board. If they are flexed the CPU pins pop from their solder pads.

Also, on the board that works you should bring up the factory tests and run the "slave CPU test" to make sure it passes. If it doesn't then reflow the solder on both CPUs.

I use liquid rosin flux and a hot iron to reflow them and it works quite well.

Reflowing surface mount chips is something a cheap bastard
would learn to do to save money... ;-)

I've never tried it myself... I'll have to see if I have a very fine tip soldering bit...

Thanks for the good info.

I would be great to get these boards running again...
