Well this thread is a little late but finally after a year of owning it I got my Sega Sky Target working. It's a bit of a long read so I posted a blog about it here.

Here's a short vid of the game running. It was a spur of the moment video so not very long but I'll try to take one at a later time showing the actual gameplay and full attract mode.

This game is a lot of fun. Love the sounds and music on this one.

This one's for you SilverDuck!

Not sure yet. The monitor is back to normal, and I have not really messed with it much yet, but it seems that you can't cycle between the different jets when the game starts. Do you just left/right on the pilot stick? Is there a trick to it? The left/right works fine during the game, but I can't switch jets....

Got that solved...

Now to put the cabinet back together.

When I power the game up, it always comes on with 24 credits. How can I make it come on with 0 credits?

Need manual, dip settings, and cabinet diagram....

This Sky Target set is still a little bit funky. Each time I turn it on, it loads 24 credits, even if I run it down to 0 credits before turning it off.

During the Memory Test, IC65 & IC66 both test bad, and when it gets to those IC's in the test, the display goes funky until the test is over.

In attract mode, the "top scores" area displays gibberish.

Any guesses? Should I be concerned that the Sega repair service sent it back to me in this condition?

The Sega repair service replied to my email, and said the bad IC Rams would not cause the game to start with 24 credits, but it would cause the jibberish on the high score screens. They did not offer to re-check the board, so I guess I need to find someone else to check it out.

Any clues what would cause this game to always load with 24 credits?

Have you looked for gremlins in the machine?

Try clearing the settings in the menu screen and adjusting the coin/credit settings as well.

sorry to drudge up the old thread

but im hoping someone can direct me to whats keeping my sky target from running

mine is the sitdown with 25in monitor , i get lights, i can hear the monitor trying to kick on, but the model 2a crx board gives me led 11 which is red, and green leds 1-4 flash twice and stay off, anyone with experiance with model 2 have an idea whats going on?
