Sega Racer Fans... Help me find a Shifter part for SuperGT

The shifter on my Super GT started acting funny. It wasn't in the expected gear. At first I thought one of the microswitches had gone bad, but after replacing them it made no difference.

A looked for other causes and found out it's a mechanical issue. The switch on the "top" (meaning pointed toward the monitor) doesn't always get pressed enough and it might or might not register. The reason for this appears to be that the "hard" rubber pieces that goes on the bottom of the shifter shaft has broken in half.

This is part SPG-2152. Does anyone know of a place that offers it? I looked on the web (google search, happ) but didn't see it anywhere.

I can see a couple of options to rig up a working solution, but I thought I'd start by looking for the original part.

Thanks!

I dropped by Lowes to see if they had anything that was similar. They have some nylon spacers that are very similar in size --- but obviously not rubber. I didn't think they would work, but since it was around $1 I purchased some to try it out.

No, it didn't work. They made the gear shift way to hard to move.

Interestingly, I looked at the other shifter (connected to the twin) and it didn't have this part at all. So while I have the broken part for the gear shifter that started having trouble, the shifter that is working doesn't have the part at all.

Ultimately I bent the activator arm (with the roller) just a little bit and it fixed the problem. It will probably work for a long time.

My guess is that this rubber piece would also have fixed the problem and made the shifter have less "play".
