From KLOV:
"Rarity is NOT necessarily an indication of value. Some common games show up as very rare here because collectors don't want them even though arcade operators might be sitting on tons of them in warehouses, while some fairly scarce games are grabbed by collectors every time they show up."
Here's what makes a game valuable, in my mind:
1) Accepted by the general public as a game that is recognizable and fun to play
2) In an original cabinet
3) Not beat to hell
4) With a monitor, PS and boardset that work well
5) Being sold near someone who gives a crap
The only games that really don't fit into that list are the top 10 on KLOV and a few others. Some of those get pretty stupid on pricing. There's a few scattered here and there that are generally considered "grails" by some people, but you have to find those people first.
That is all. Rarity is a bad way to value a machine.
