I came across a cabinet at auction listed simply as "outrun arcade case". Could not tell from the picture if it had any internals so I went and looked at it. Complete except for a monitor! I got it at a decent price and got it home. It stunk. Big time. But was mostly compete.

I had a spare, broken G07 that I set about fixing. I'm finding these easy to work on but they generally need a lot of money to bring them back. Flyback, cap kit, a parts bin focus block, fuse holder in place at F901 since it took me a while to find a bad resistor, etc. But I got that going and flipped on the game. I had an unsync'ed screen and no sounds. I assumed the PCB wasn't working.

Then, @parism came into the picture. He gave me lots of suggestions and eventually we realized I had a mostly working PCB. The advanced mem test ROMs showed a bad memory chip and, after replacement, the game was working except for random sprites and sparkles popping up on the screen occasionally. I think it was @mecha who pointed out the video was plugging in to the wrong spot … that kinda helped too. 😄
