Sega OutRun

I would hope that a nice working condition means that the B gear is still in good shape or replaced. So I would agree that $500 for a good cab.

I sold mine for $450 then shipped it to the Netherlands. I had restored the machine and included a new monitor, new floor material, a NOS B gear and it had the center emblem. I love the game and think it should be worth more (it has a frickin' shaker motor for Chist's sake), but they rarely sell above $350-400 in average shape.

Paid $250 for my upright and it was in decent condition and fully working. In fact, the steering on mine is better than on any other OutRun I've come across. And I'm in the Pacific Northwest where game prices are often 20-30% higher than elsewhere in the country.

OutRun is an awesome game and I agree with Phet -- it should be worth more than what they typically go for. I don't know why it isn't. Maybe there are just a ton of them out there. It was a pretty big hit for Sega.

I remember Phet's machine. Who ever got it, got a deal. Liked the blue T-molding on it. I paid around $300 for mine and the gears were busted of course. I probably spent another $200 to get it presentable. New A/B gear, new mat, emblem, glass window. The ones in my area are pretty beat. I saw a few on CL and they wanted bucks. That was two years ago.

Pretty common for 200-250 for a decent one. Maybe 300 if you really want it. I just think there was/is a ton of them around and aren't as sought-after as other games. Might be a regional thing, as far as availability. The great lakes/midwest just seems to have a ton of them.

Those damn gears are so expensive, the #1 thing that is making me waffle on restoring mine or passing it on. I bet someone with the mechanical know-how/math skills (ie, not me) could find off-the-shelf replacements from some supplier. They are just gears!

Yep, although a working boardset alone is usually pricey, and no one seems to repair them. On top of that, all the restoration parts are pricey, so it's an expensive game to restore that you'll never get your money back out of, IF it's about that. If you want a neat game to keep that's fun, then it's great.

I plan on restoring mine, although I wish the repro dash plastics had happened.

Most dedicated driving titles have a boardset that costs almost as much as the entire game. That isn't really all that peculiar to Out Run.

It may seem like it doesn't sell for all that much, but it is probably still at the top of the price heap for 80s drivers.

I had one I got for $19 played blind, found $5 in quarters and a fuse in the bottom. Put the fuse in the empty socket on the monitor and had a working outrun for $14!

Excellent shape, had wheel center cover, but did have a crack in the B gear.

Sold it for $235 after cleaning it only.
Best flip ever! And I still sold it as a good deal at $235 IMO.

I sold an Outrun and Afterburner in a package deal for $600, so $300 a piece. Both worked, both monitors were bright and wheel and shakers worked great. I did replace the mat at one point. After I got modern drivers in the arcade no one played it anymore.

I am going to scan the mini art as soon as my HP scanner arrives. As side art for the regular UR is already done that is an options. Someone did the mini art and sold a few sets but they are not longer available and not responding to e-mail for files.

I picked up a full size upright Outrun last night. The cabinet and art is in pretty good shape, but the monitor has no glow and its not currently playing blind. Not sure if the monitor is an issue as it could be the board... Someone has made some wiring modifications the power wires and now there is only one power plug running to the board instead of the standard two. Luckily I have a harness I can swap in. Hopefully I'll get some time to look at the game this weekend. Has a decent looking k7000 series monitor in it as well.

My plan is to fix it and move it along as I already have an outrun mini.
