Greetings all.

Just joined up to this site, as I am a newbe in starting a home arcade. With that in mind, bear with me if I stray from etiquette here a bit. I'm learning.

I recently picked up a Turbo Outrun and have a question I need some help with.

The unit is a complete Turbo Outrun, in good shape, and appears to be fully operational. Plays great. The guy I bought it from also had an original Outrun PCB board (no video board attached) that he threw in. I'm told this is working (untested, so perhaps not). At any rate, I'd like to put it in to give it a try, but when I do, no luck in getting the game to boot. Am I correct in assuming that I can't use the original Outrun PCB with the converted Turbo Video board? Is there anything I need to do to get this to work? If not, does anyone have an extra original Outrun video board they'd like to part with?

Thanks in advance for the help and education!!!!

OutRun and Turbo OutRun use the same top CPU board and bottom video board. Turbo OutRun was released as a ROM upgrade kit for OutRun and as a dedicated game cabinet. An upgrade kit manual can be found here:

You should be able to swap the top OutRun PCB with the top Turbo OutRun PCB but you will still have to switch out the Turbo OutRun ROMs for OutRun ROMs on the bottom board.

Ah, that's what I thought. Thanks for the help and confirmation. Now if I can only find another video board, or a set of ROMs without spending what I did for the entire machine. :>)

Any ideas where I might pick up a separate video board?
