Sega naomi rebuilding and mame cab conversion

The cab looks like it's coming along nicely. Regarding the MAME in a Naomi cab, hey to each their own. At least the cab wasn't butchered and you kept the original look. I'm sure if you decide to sell it later on down the road it wouldn't be too hard to convert it back. Good job.

Today i rebuilt the neon lightning system from zero (now is 220v operated) , side bars was cleaned and painted with a special trasparent protective paint:

While I love a Naomi better than a PC, that cabinet is beautiful now! Are you going to put Naomi Universal on the rails in vinyl again?

Very nice looking cab. I think the mame inside is not a big deal since he kept the outside of the cab all original it looks awesome.

I'm a fan of the naomi system though. That was a nice naomi 2 system removed lol but it's all good

Hi all, i found a used sega naomi cabinet , i want to rebuild it and and downgrade it in a mame cab (with internal pc) , first i decided to totally clean it...

Fixed for you ;)

While I agree with the sentiments of preserving originality, and MAME is lame - you've done a very nice, respectful refurbish of this cabinet, with no modifications that can't be undone by someone in the future. So, cheers :)

because you have not disassembled to fit all the pieces, you had already started?

is a work done in half ... have you seen mine?

hello

why the hate?

Too many haters here about mame and keeping stuff original. All the arcade people love the reproduced marquees, artwork, and controll panels, and reproduced paint colors. But as soon as you mention reproduced hardware (or hardware emulation) people get all upset. I dont understand it. Is any restored arcade really "all original"? I like the restore and mame job you did. I plan on doing the same with a cheaper cab in the future.

its because it was not a beaten down game, it was a hard to find game that was stripped away for this emulated crap. It isnt to much of a big deal to me when its a candy cabinet but if it was a dedicated game, it would now be one less, you see?

Good job on a very good restoration and I think your cabinet looks great.

Personally, I have no problems with MAME and I think using the original cabinet unmodified is just as good as restoring it to a NAOMI. You have to look at it as one more restored Net City cabinet that one could easily drop NAOMI hardware into and have a fully working cabinet again.
