Sega Monkey Ball in Austin. Not mine.

not sure how many people want a monkey ball but I seem to remember someone here find a cp with the banana joystick and paying $150-200 for that alone. I think the game isn't very common here in the US although I may be wrong.

that's a pretty fun game. I'd like to get one someday.. if that were in lubbock it would be in the back of my pickup before the next round of rain hits.

I doubt there are too many of these around in this condition...

Monkey Ball is a popular arcade game combining hand and eye dexterity as you guide your monkey in a ball through a course
to pick up bananas and reach your goal.

This game is in excellent condition as we are the original owners for this game won in a contest. Game has just had limited use
at home. Includes original owner's manual and keys.

Cash only. Must provide own delivery.

For that price, that thing is INCREDIBLE. Seriously under priced. The kit goes for more than that.

Dedicated Monkey Ball?

I looked at this game in person. It is in good shape although the monitor yoke is a bit twisted and it needs some convergence done. It is also at the top of a long flight of stairs with a slight turn halfway down.

Is this a dedicated Monkey Ball machine?
Does such a thing even exist?

I am not sure if Monkey Ball was a kit only game or not. Does anyone have a picture of another Monkey Ball machine like this one?

I am pretty sure that is an original dedicated one. I have seen 2. One at game works id Grapevine and one at Betson in Dallas and they both looked the exact same.

pics of other money ball machines?

I think it could be a promotional item made for a contest. The guys son won it off Cartoon Network along with a gamecube and a monkey ball game cart in 2003. Does anyone have a picture of a Monkey Ball machine like this? If Betson was selling them I would think it would have to have a SEGA plate and # of some kind which this one does not. I am also curious if the marquee is like this one.

When I inspected the machine it did not have any Sega markings on the cabinet inside or out (that I could find). It did have a sticker saying that the cabinet was made in USA by some company on the east coast(Shuller or something like that). Someone pointed out it is the same cabinet for Beachhead 2000 by Tsunami:
http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=7062

It has a Naomi system in it and the same control panel and stick as the Monkey Ball kits I have seen. The manual was the manual from the Kit version of the game and had no mention of the cabinet or pictures that I could find. The control panel overlay is glued down into a routed out area on the cabinet. I do not think it could be removed and reused in another cabinet. The marquee is strange. It has a few promotional logos on it like Dole pineapples and some other stuff. It is different from the Monkey Ball marquees I have seen in the past. The sideart is nice but looks like the GC cartridge to me.

After looking at it I came to the conclusion that it is most likely a Monkey Ball kit put into a cabinet for promotional use but this type of game is not my forte' at all. If someone can produce a picture of another one like this I would greatly appreciate it.

This is what I would consider the closest to a dedicated monkey ball

I know this cabinet is used by a few naomi games so maybe dedicated does not really apply.

Additional info from owner

I'm the owner that has this for sale. Just wanted to post some additional info on the MB
game.

1) Game is now downstairs, so that should ease in any pick-up.
2) Logo for Dole bananas is not special for this particular machine. That logo can be
seen in the picture of the other model shown earlier in this thread.
3) Game was assembled in the U.S. by TLC Industries (Top Line Cabinets). Website looks to be http://www.tlcind.com/

So this may not be a dedicated Japanese version, but I had seen a similar one in this
cabinet at a GattiTown in the past. That may not be saying much, but note that there
are full graphics on the sides of the machine, so it doesn't appear to me to be just a
cabinet with the game included.

Just wanted to post this additional info in case anyone was interested.

Thanks.

...

After some additional research and speaking with some other long time collectors we all came to the same conclusion.

The kit was only released for Asian markets and no US version was ever made period. Sega did use a company to make games for some special customers. That is most likely what this is. They took a Monkey Ball kit and retrofitted it into a cabinet. You can see the cabinet is the same as ones used by Tsunami for Beachhead 2000 and other VR games. They may have made a handful or 100's. My guess is they made very few and used them for select locations and for the contest your son won. For me as a collector the game has less collectible value not being a Sega released dedicated machine and this is why I passed on it.

I am sorry if you misperceive my further investigation of the machines true origin as some type of offense as that was never my intent. I think the man selling this machine was very nice in person. The game is working 100% and in great condition. I also feel the price is very fair. It's just not for me.
