Hey guys, need a sega or potentiometer expert lol. So I'm working on a sega harley davidson arcade. The issue is the the handle bars naturally sit/ fall all the way to right. Steering response is normal going left, but right turns are nothing or full tilt. I've traced it to the potentiometer in the steering housing. My question is, is the steering and volume replacement 5k potentiometers the same? I can't find the original B565 direct replacement, but Arcade Art sells a 5k Sega part # 220-5737 as a replacement. There is also the Cosmos Tocos RVQ24-series that are supposed to be sega plug n play replacements.....Happ has the 5k model #220-5373 to replace segas #220-5374 and #220-5484. Would any of these work as replacements for the steering Potento? The 1st pic below is of the original steering potentiometer, followed by the happs replacement, then arcade arts replacement, and then the original sound potentiometer in the cab. Thanks in advance for the expertise....20240408_211442.jpgScreenshot_20240409_094311_Samsung Internet.jpgScreenshot_20240409_091739_Chrome.jpg20240409_090815.jpg

Handle Bars falling off to one direction or other have nothing to do with pot. Its a ROSTA unit thats out. See manual for identification.

Ok, great, thank you for the input irepairsega. After tearing the entire assembly apart, I assume this is the rosta? Assuming what I have should look more like the rosta for top skater or waverunner arcades (3rd pic) and in that case mine appears completely away. Sega #601-8847...DR- S 18x30 seems like the correct replacement. A general search returned no results for this part 😬. Any idea of how I'd replace this? SOL? Too boot, the rosta wouldn't fix the steering sensitivity to the right.... correct?

Ooh, interesting. When not being held, my handlebars want to sit in the rightmost position rather than centered. I always assumed that was normal. My pot works through the full range fwiw. I guess the rosta must be some sort of spring device/assembly? Whatever the solution, I hope it gets posted here. Following!

Hey theshanman,
I found the rosta part for the machine, Suzo Happ has them, but you have to look under their waverunner parts section as it's listed there and not under the harley davidson section.... go figure, but it's the same part for both. I ordered the potentiometer also since my right steering is off. Anyway, see pic below. Enjoy!

Seems Happ listed part is same. If not, you can ask Angela at Play It Amusements if she still stocks the 601-8847. If no go, you just need inner dims of small square and outer dims of main body and you can probably find one from actual manufacturer. If it was me I would just shove some rubber dowels in there and put large washers top / bottom and see if that works. There are just four dowels and some softer rubber to hold it all together. Maybe silicone? Its not too complicated.

I'm digging into mine as we speak. @ClassicEra80 how did you separate the wheel with the plastic gear attached from the end of the shaft? I've loosened up the 2 set screws but I can't seem to pry it off. Doesn't seem like it ought to be a super tight press fit and I don't want to use too much force if I'm overlooking the right thing to do. I think I'll put a little penetrating oil on there for the night, but would love a little input on this from you, or @irepairsega for that matter (to whom I was talking earlier about an unrelated repair request!).

Seems like that's the key to accessing the rosta as the housing assembly needs to slide off the end of the shaft where that wheel is in the way.

One of the little rubber rods is slipping out of my rosta as I remove it, so hopefully that'll give me a good idea of the needed density or whatever. Part of me wants to try printing them out of TPU and see if that holds up but I'll probably look into off the shelf options too.
