Hey guys, I know you must be tired of me by now haha, but the last thing I need on this hang on machine is to fix this little issue I'm having with the sounds. I believe there is a problem with the sound PCB, but I don't know where, or what. Basically, the sounds work, but the title song is sped up to hell, and high pitched. then yous start to play, and everything with the motorcycles is fine, until you start racing for a bit, then the sound freezes...I recorded the problem for you to see, so if anyone knows what the deal is, I could really use the help.

Also, I pulled both of the sound boards to check them, and they all look immaculate. I've done the memory test, and all the roms and ram say that they're good...I've done some tests, and with the bottom board disconnected, I still get the same results...

First, don't feel sorry for needing help. You're just as important as anybody else here. No need to apologize.

Second, that's especially true since you tried to troubleshoot it before asking for help.

Third, I have no idea what's wrong, sorry :(

"Looks" doesn't necessarily correlate to function.

The memory self-test, unfortunately, only tests the RAMs and ROMs on the main board... not those on the sound board.

What do you mean by "both sound boards" and by "the bottom board"? The "sound board" (identified as "C" in the owners manual) is P/N 834-5670, and is mounted at the bottom of the other PCBs on the back door (in an upright). Are you also talking about the amplifier board, down by the transformer?

Also, have you tried going into "SOUND TEST" mode in self test, and checking all 15 sounds? Which ones work and which don't? This might also help narrow down the issue...

By two boards, I mean that the sound board is a 2 layer board, with 3 connectors to the main PCB. The bottom board has all the EPROMs, and the top board has all the ICs, and connectors to the amp at the bottom of the cab. All the sounds work fine in sound test except for the title theme, which is sped up like on start up, and the goal theme, which doesn't work at all.

The top of those 2 boards is the sound board. The bottom on is the ROM board.

Doesn't sound like it's source-related (there are two primary audio-generation paths). I'd pull the EPROMs on the sound board, read & verify them. As I mentioned, the self-test mode doesn't include the ROM (or RAM) on the sound board.

Oh okay. Thanks for the clarification! I don't have a way to check eproms though, unfortunately. So it looks like I just have to wait to find a working board.
