Sega Genesis + 32X modded together = a real Sega Neptune!

I never understood why there was a AC adapter for the Genesis and 32X. I know for sure I only used one AC adapter when I had mine. I can't remember if I had it only in the Genesis or 32X, I'm thinking 32X though.

The 32X was the epitome of add-on hardware and was a complete failure because of it. The back of the unit attached to a Genesis was a wired bird's nest. I remember BITD passing on the 32X and was going to wait for the Neptune. Still waiting too…

That wouldn't work.

Well it did. I swear on it. I know because all I got from my friend was the 32X adapter. I had to "make" the A/V cable that went from the Genesis to the 32X. Maybe power transferred through that cable because I occupied all the pins. I don't know, but all I used was one AC adapter for the Genesis and 32X.

I know a guy on AtariAge who hacks a GameCube powersupply which then feeds both the Genesis as well as the 32X. Cleans up the power outlet very nicely.

Man, I may have to do this just to get rid of the second AC adapter! :D

I came across this a while back. It's something I wouldn't mind doing, I wonder if it's possible with the original model? I never liked the MD2, the sound is terrible and the "produced by or under license from sega enterprises ltd" screen annoys me.

i remember getting 3 different 32x's when I was a kid and it NEVER worked. I had doom and some f1 racing game, could never get it to work :(

I got a 32X for one game, and one game only - T-MEK! It sucked without the cockpit and controls, but at least it was ported at some point. I later got it on PC, which was better. I actually wrote to Atari and Sony asking them to port it to PSX back when this thing existed:

Obviously that never happened :(

Regardless, I've since had many 32X games, most of which I really enjoyed. Shadow Squadron was awesome with a friend. Anyone who likes Star Wars Arcade would probably enjoy it.

I still have a brand new 32X still sealed in its box. I bought most of the 32X games that came out. It was a pretty good system.
