First - This game is HEAVY!! We transferred the monitor/steering unit to a trailer behind my garden tractor and drove it down to the overhead door in the basement. We then used a strap to hold the machine while tilting the trailer to scoot the machine to the concrete landing without allowing it to tip over. This section is extremely top heavy. Luckily it is on wheels and we were able to easily move it into place.

The seat section is much lighter and 4 of use simply picked it up out of the trailer. It is on wheels also and slid into place. The two sections go together nicely and it is impressive sitting in the room.

This particular machine is fairly dirty. It needs a good scrubbing down. Some of the plastic has some minor cracks, but it is all there. I am sure the greasing of the controls has been neglected also, so I plan to get out the manual and grease it properly along with cleaning the outside and inside.

Everything seems to work correctly including the paddle shifters, 6-speed shifter, clutch, brake, throttle, steering feedback, etc. The monitors all work, but they have some burn in and the right monitor has a greener look to it. The left two monitors are pretty crisp.

As far as playing, this is probably the most fun I have had for an initial play of a game. On expert mode and with all helpers like traction control, anti-lock brakes, etc turned off it is like driving a rear Ferrari. The 6-speed gated shifter is just a crappy as the real Ferrari shifter - I found that to be rather funny! The engine braking when downshifting is very realistic along with drifting through curves and spinning out. It is also fun to try to wreck another car. I was banging into the side of one in a straight away for about 5 seconds. When we came into the turn he slowed down then got behind me and pit maneuvered me into the wall. It was amazing!

If you have room for this game and want something challenging I would highly recommend it.

Nice addition.. I absolutely love this game! I paid my way to the high scores on the first track. By that I mean that it took loads of money for me to get good enough to even finish the race. Eventually I finally won the race but it took me a while. This was a modern day skill game that you had to actually get good enough to proceed - no pay more to continue crap. Unfortunately where I played it it was like a dollar a game so it was an expensive learning curve.

Edit: I also always played on expert with all assists turned off.

I would like to play this game once in my life, on the 3 screen version just like yours. Great pickup. Wish I had the space for this one. Enjoy it.

Yes, the only way to play it is expert mode with all assists turned off. The training option (in expert mode) is a great way to learn the track and what gear to select, braking intensity for turns, etc. I finished a race this morning in second position. Missing a gear here and there hurts your race somewhat and a crash is very significant.

I need to learn how to put the machine in test mode. I'm not sure my subwoofer is firing under the seat and I would like to tweak the monitors for better color. The rear cabinet tail lights are also not working properly. I think they are supposed to flash on and off during attract mode. The right one stays on all the time and the left one comes on once in a while.

It is an incredible game. I would like to have an R-360 as well, but I don't think I have the ceiling height for it!

This is a great "modern" game. Pretty much the only thing post 90s I have been impressed with. Thanks for doing the work and getting this one into a safe home!

Such a great driving simulator, pretty sure nothing has surpassed it in the coin-op world terms of quality play.

I Agree. I grew up playing Asteroids, Lunar Lander, Pac, Donkey Kong and pretty much quit when I started working in the mid 80s. I played some other games like Track and Field, Karate Champ, but never got into TMNT, Mortal Kombat, or any of the 90s-2000s games.

The F355 is more of a simulator than a game and that is why I like it so much. I don't like Outrun or any of the hovering view driving games, especially those that have unrealistic driving characteristics.

It's funny. I'm not sure why but I always figured I was the only "old timer" who fell in love with this game. My boss was asking about video games to put in his mountain house. He has the money and the space and I'm sure I'd be able to play it occasionally. May have to push him towards installing LCDs though. I'm not sure the CRT's benefit it the way they do for the classics.

Being a high res display LCDs are desirable in F355 in my opinion. My left and center monitor are pretty crisp and clear, but the right is off color with a green bias to it. I'm not sure if there is an adjustment for the monitors when it comes to color or if the chassis needs rebuilt. There is a deguasssing button for each monitor, but that did not help any. It also has some burn in which doesn't affect it much in play, but it is still there. They also weigh more, use more power, and are not likely as bright as an LCD. If I can't get the right monitor to display better I will likely go with LCDs. Also, servicing these monitors takes some time - especially the center monitor since it requires the dash and steering components to be removed.

Played it at CAX this year in the room with all the pac mans, very awesome game.

This and The Grid were super fun to play.

F355 is fun..

I just picked up a 3 monitor machine a couple months ago..Another "grail" FOUND! :)
