After replacing the power transformer in my starship troopers project, the game now boots up and goes into attract mode. However, the fuse on the display power board blows as soon as you power up the game. It may be tonight or tomorrow before I can get a chance to look at it further. What could be some of the causes of this to check for? I do know that I get a reading of 90 volts on one side of the fuse and this fuse will blow with the display unhooked. Any suggestions?

Check Zener diodes D5 and D6, and while your at it check D3 & D4 if they look ok then check your transistors for shorts... I've repaired alot of these boards with this problem.

I replaced the components and now have all the correct voltages, but nothing from the display. I tried the display in my royal rumble and it worked. Is it possible to hook up the starship troopers display controller board to the royal rumble to see if the controller board works or not without damaging anything?

I took a quick look at the schematics for the 520-5055-00 board in my SW and compared it to SST's schematics and they sure look similar if not the same. Sorry I can't tell you for sure but I'd guess that any differences are minor revisions. Kind of hard to do an in depth comparison because the scan of the SST manual I downloaded from IPDB isn't the best. Hopefully someone else can give you a definite yes/no.
