I posted a few years back with no avail however I am going to try again. Mod seems to be good at this so lets see if I can stump him!

Okay so a few years back I was at my local dump and found a Sega space themed cockpit cabinetthat some jackoff converted to a hydra! It had a 25" monitor and a 8" sub inside the cabinet. It was black with tons of moon like planets and a x-wing ship lookin thing on the side of the cabinet. I have looked at just about everything space themed I could find to figure out what the game was? It looked rare as I have never seen anything else like it. I tried to come back and save the cabinet from destruction but was 5 minutes too late and it was loaded into a trash truck and compacted (I did cry). Anyhow any ideas? Pics would help!

Perhaps it was an Exidy game???

StarFire?

all great looking games but no. it had the plexi canopy and huge planets on the side of the cabinet with a huge blue sega. the planets looked almost like moons (gray in color) and the game looked unlike any other i had ever seen. I do know it was a 25" monitor and that hte cabinet was massive. the ship was gray also.

Well, assuming the Sega fact is accurate (and that you'd have remembered Star Trek), maybe you are referring to the rare Astron Belt cockpit (which had a 25"):

no mod. the sides of gthe cockpit were black and it had a plexi canopy and a huge blue sega decal on side of cabinet above the planets and one on the back. looked cool as heck i hope it wasnt rare :-(

The very fact we can't find a match indicates it was rare... I recall seeing something like you describe a long time ago, though, in an arcade... wish I could remember more!

i was an awesome game i was sad to see it turned into a lame ass hydra. it made me mad. i tried to get it moved but didnt get to dump with truck fast enough

Or misremembered. Most likely it was a non-Sega cab that was converted, then converted again.

I did some searching for "Hydra cockpit" to see if there are any images out there
and one was in the Astron belt cab I post earlier, and another was in the Road Blasters cockpit:

no mod thats not a winner either. had a curved plexi on the back almsot like a pp cockpit but the cab was definatley sega. it had full side art on the entire cab except the rear section. it was not originally a hyrda just what the op converted it to. there was a sheet inside the cabinet that had hand written notes as to the conversion and rules for if the game failed to function properly. it did however have a foot pedal and a 8 inch sub inside and also the front of the cabinet inside the cockpit had decals that were space ship controls and the coin door was also on the inside of the machine. I remember clearly..... Its going to drive me binkers til I figure this out!

Any sega nerds out there?

Does any one have a picture of the Sega game "Space Position"? No pic anywhere that I can find.

"Space" means it'll have the right art.

"Position" and racing game means it could have a variation of the Pole Position cockpit cab.
