So I was expecting to find a Nanao MS9 in my newly acquired Sega Blast, but it definitely looks like something else. I don't recognize the chassis and did not see a remote board for picture adjustment. It does have an option for VGA output like a Nanao. The chassis is absolutely filthy and looks like the flyback leaked out onto the board. I'd like to replace the flyback and put a cap kit in. It does have a nice picture as is.

It's a Nanao MS2931, standard monitor in a Blast City. It's 15-25-31KHz. The flyback is fine (and there are no replacements) and the "black goop" as is commonly known comes from the linearity coil.

I had a Blast before and thought it looked different. So just leave the goop alone? Do I need to replace that coil?

The coil is not broken, it's just its potting compound that is prone to melting. It should be possible to encapsulate the coil in a box so it won't leak again.

i have started to add a ton of candy cabinet kits for power supplies and monitors that no one else has since i have a customer working on 130 of them.

i would clean the whole chassis if it were mine.

Thanks for all the responses. I must of had a 2930 in my last Blast. Since the pic is good I'll probably have a cap kit on hand for the future. Looks like the monitor just needs a date with Simple Green and the hose. The whole cabinet reeks of cigarettes and is filthy inside.
