Sega Alien Syndrome Restoration

So in my continuing investigating into the game, I discovered a few things that I thought I would share. I will be adding to this page as information comes up during my next restore of one. If I am incorrect in anything please let me know.

a) Game was sold in a dedicated cab and a conversion kit

b) The original dedicated did not have a monitor bezel, thus why so many are seen having
just plain black one.

Just out of interest what was the name/style of the original cabinet this came in? Was it the same as the one with the huge SEGA logo down the side?

If so anyone know if there have been plans produced to build one of these?

So I think I'm understanding your question. The dedicated Choplifter left the factory in the cabinet you posted. Also was sold in a kit form. The dedicated Choplifter and dedicated Alien Syndrome are almost identical except the Choplifter has the bumpout that houses the coin door and the Alien Syndrome has the top square cutout for the lighted topper. Except for those two things I believe they are identical. Not sure why they went with a different front panel, seems costs could have been less if they had picked either the bump out or flat front.

I just bought a sorry looking, but mostly original Alien Syndrome. Having been inspired by your restorations, I'm looking to do the full on restore, If I can confirm sources for the artwork.

I've started asking around looking for bezel and cpo, can you tell me if Fizgig is still producing that bezel?

Last thing, I read where you used the red tapered sticks salvaged from the Speedlink Comp Pro controllers. Do those work in the later square actuator joysticks? Can they be sourced from the newer anniversary edition, or the originals, or are they all made the same anyway?
