Ok,what should be an easy and quick job is now really getting under my skin. I am restoring my original DL arcade game and wanted to burn a set of the enhanced game roms.
I erased my stock original Seeq 2764 game roms and I will be damned if I can get my burner to do its job.

Anyone else have any tips or tricks for the Top2005 burner?

I know this USB programmer is not a great one and it's been 50/50 for success with a handful of chips. Right now I wanted to try to fire up my game but without roms that is not going to work very well.

Man I wouldnt have erased my original roms until I had something to replace them.
Contact Steph at hobbyroms and have him burn you a set.
Sorry, cant help with that burner....never heard of it.

I was not 100% sure my original ROM images were good. On the up side I have 3 out of the 4 programmed but the last one will not burn complete without bombing out. I got this machine back from a friend that had it for the last 17 years. I purchased it directly from the Aladdins castle arcade back in 1982. It was non-working when I dragged it back home. I did get it up and running for about 5 minutes then it died. I capped the power supply, logic board monitor chassis and neck board (new flyback) and I really wanted "fresh" ROMS. Oh well.

Either way is fixable but now I might have to wait............

When using old EPROMs, you need to make sure the window on the chip is spotless and that you blank check it SEVERAL times to make sure it is erased properly. If it fails one out of those several times then you have a bit that needs to be hit with some additional time in the eraser.

Other than that, have you checked the USB power levels in your programmer's software? If the power levels aren't high enough then you'll have problems with the older non-CMOS chips. Try the USB port on the back of the computer, not the front. It can usually supply more power AND isn't attached via an internal "USB Hub" like a lot of the front ports are.

All good suggestions and yes the eproms did check "blank" several passes. I have only run into one other chip that would not write properly yet seems "blank". That one was a different size chip (ST).

Windows were cleaned off with acetone and the voltage adjustments on the TOP2005 programmer has to be internal with the chip selection. There are no external or internal adjustments on the programmer (cheap programmer).

USB power is near the top or max on the good scale.

In the mean time I went to plan "B"-

Send me a PM and throw them my way.... I will program them for ya.

Did my Space Ace... Worked great.

I have a HILO Systems ALL02 Programmer.

I have a Top 2049. Sometimes you have to use a slower usb setting in the cmos (12mb/s) of your computer or use a older usb port adapter hub ( 1.1 compliant, 12mb/s). And I use the power adapter plug to make sure I have enough power.

I think the TOP series programmers (hardware wise) are decent but the really bad Chinese software really hurts them.
