Hello All,

I am trying to get some help with finding Qbert parts, in particular I need to find a wiring harness. Can anyone provide me with some tips on where are the best places to look besides here, on a regular basis. I have done massive searches on Google for everything arcade and Qbert. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction, as far as businesses/sites to watch, so that I am not looking all over the place.

Thanks all,

Mike

here and ebay mostly. You are looking for a hard harness to find. It used a ton of wire so no one will reproduce the harness and if they did it would be very expensive. Also believe it has an edge connector that is not made any more. I certainly know people who have tracked these down but basically you are looking to find an original unhacked harness. BTW still will not likely be cheap.

What would something like this cost to find?

Any idea what it would cost to find one or possibly have one made? Is it smarter to wait it out or go ahead and try to build one of these? I have all the parts and can't believe I am this close but so far away. Thanks for the reply.

You could build your own, the biggest issue is finding the Edge Connector. It's a 60 pin connector and is very rare. You can use a larger one (72 pin), and just make sure you only connect it up on one end. Not a great solution, but possible work around for now.

I had to build my own, well half of it. I had the half that went to the pcb etc...

thanks all, I just snatched up a bunch of qbert part

Hi guys, I am going on the defensive and just bought a whole bunch of extra parts. hoping I can pull of a trade and put the best of the best together to make this a reality. I appreciate all the help from everyone!

Man I guess I was lucky when it came to piecing my Q*Bert together. Initially I had the power brick and AC wiring left over from a conversion when I bought the cabinet. A friend gave me the cardboard piece that mounts to the back door with the filter board and wiring for that section and the rest I found on Quarter Arcade's website. Good luck with your search. You may want to check with Quarter Arcade or a place like the arcade boneyard. If someone has a converted cab, maybe there's a partial harness in it.

I would say yes

From what I understand this is going to be hard to find. However, someone doing a Qbert Qubes restoration beat me too a wiring harness last night on eBay. I walked away with a coin door, speakers, two sets of control panels for a cocktail cab, a speeded up PCB, a working 13" monitor and the power supply and power board. Now, if someone has a extra wiring harness and wants to do some business I hope they will reach out to me.

Thanks,

Mike

Do you think??

I bought just about every other part, someone beat me to the wiring harness. I think it must have been Fudd. The guy told me, after I asked him via messages 3 times for the harness, that he sold it. I bought almost all the other parts. If you know of anyone doing a trade out for some other parts let me know.

Thanks,

Mike

I am sick now that I saw the price

I am sick now that I see what was paid for the wiring harness. Plus I have to head into work in a few with a feeling like I am going to puke.

i got the harness, another test panel( i need 1 for qubes and 1 for my reactor) and a working sound board..all for $57 shipped.

if i didnt need the harness i would have no problem selling it to you. Hopefully i can build a qubes machine so i can have a gottlieb row of Qbert, Qubes and Reactor. Just need to find mad planets next.

How did you know so quickly

Was it just luck that you stumbled upon that sale or do you have some way of getting notified about those parts you are looking for on ebay? I bought every other part that you didn't.

Mike

i bought my qubes pcb off him over the weekend, he told me he was going to list the rest of the stuff he had. i just happen to be looking at it when he did. i didn't buy the other stuff since i didn't need it. i dont like to hoard, i'd rather let someone like yourself buy it for their project.

You got such a deal on the harness I am having second thoughts about giving you the test panel.

;-)

Too late though... it shipped already.

Tell me about it

I am just trying to put together my first Qbert, though I can see how it can become an obsession to build out more. I just want to get one together to be happy. Now I am back to searching for the harness. I already have the other parts but couldn't pass up those prices. He was selling everything so cheap I thought to have some extra parts while doing my rebuild it wouldn't hurt right, so I bought it all. Now I just need a harness to start testing out.

Thanks,

Mike

Yep I have followed up with Chips already

I have the word in with Chips regarding the harness. I will keep at it. I also called Anthony and have been scouring the net looking everyday. Soon this shall pass, soon!
