Seeking Feedback!

god no. Please no more Richie Knucklez.

I'm sure richie is an ok guy in person but I'm tired of him acting like he's the boss and god of the arcade world . Reminds me of how Texas think their tuff shit because they can fly their flag higher

$50 to have my name in the credits? Tempting... I think I'd only do it if my name will go in there as: Patrick 'The Kombat King' Maher. lol :p

As for Richie, I think we should all appreciate what he's trying to do. We're all hobbyists here. We like to play and restore these things. He's just taking it a step further.

that was a cool teaser and what's wrong with knucklez? I think he's a cool cat!

If you donate 100,000.00 I think YOU can actually play the role of Richie in the movie:)

Hello! I'm the Executive Producer of a new documentary title The King of Arcades. We just released the first trailer and are seeking feedback from gaming fans. Please let me know what you think!

Seems like your seeking money more than feedback with bogus ass pledge packages. If you wanna make a movie you should make it about a real arcade that's been open since the mid 80s and is still around to this day. Star worlds arcade is really the king of arcades since they have been in business longer than any arcade today. They are a true golden age arcade

OK, I have no idea what your documentary is supposed to be about. The trailer goes in about a half dozen directions.

Is it about the history of arcades? It seems that way early, them shifts tones.

Is it about a guy who restores game? Maybe, but let's jump to shots of Walter Day and Billy Mitchell that don't seem to have much to do with the narrative.

Wait, it's about a guy whose arcade closes... wait, where was the part where we established him as an arcade owner?

Oh, he rises above! He's inspirational! Or something! I guess why he's a heartwarming character is being saved for the film...

Hey, it could be great. You certainly showed you have some footage of some interesting characters and events. But, I'm not being a jerk... I have no idea from the trailer what your doc is supposed to be. A trailer isn't just where you disjointedly drop your best quotes from your interviews. Right now, this looks like a bad King of Kong follow-up.

----------------

Best of luck. I'll follow along. Maybe the next things you post will change my snap impression.

+1. Not trying to hate on it because it seems interesting and there is potential but I'm not positive what the storyline is.

As a "filmmaker" (though that sounds super pretentious...) I know the feeling of being too close to the story, footage, etc. and missing on explaining what it is that the story is. Try breaking the film down to its basic elements, the whole 'elevator pitch' concept (If you had a 2 minute ride elevator ride with a huge Hollywood distributor, how would you explain your movie to them). Then take that and focus the trailer a bit more.

I like the tag line of 'an arcade will fall, a hero will rise' but you didn't get to that 'til the end and even then I wasn't quite sure what exactly it is getting at.

Please take this as constructive criticism. If it helps, great. If not, then do your own thing. I've backed things on Kickstarter before, love film, addicted to arcade gaming, so I'm hoping to back this.

The Kombat King - Your name will appear however you choose in the credits, provided it isn't offensive. ;)

kjeffery - We will finish the documentary even if we do not reach our Kickstarter goal. Of course, we do need funding to take the production to the next level. We've made an effort to offer rewards to our backers that will be unavailable elsewhere, to show that we appreciate a monetary contribution. However, we do want feedback to make this film the best it can be. We have tons of raw footage, but have not yet began editing it. We still have more interviews and filming to do... so we are open to suggestions!

CelticKnight and eefilms- This documentary does have a lot going on...and since the movie isn't finish yet, this trailer doesn't have a "beginning, middle, end". The trailer we've released here is an attempt to show the type and quality of footage we have obtained in a year of filming. We have footage and interviews to show the beginning and historical importance of gaming. We follow Richie Knucklez to show not only how the restoration of the games is an art form, but also the current state of arcades. Through Richie, we meet other gamers, developers, and fans who tell their own stories and also reflect on Richie and the future of gaming. Your feedback will be especially valuable to us when we complete a trailer to promote the finished film!

Thank you everyone for the comments and suggestions!

I'm just saying give credit where credit is due . Please take time to have star worlds arcade in this film. Like I said they are the real kings of arcade because thu are still in business and har been since the golden age of arcades. I understand if you because this is basically about richie and not arcades nor the hobbyist . All I get is richie richie richie, bow down to richie

Nothing against Richie , he seems like a really cool guy and would be a great friend off the forums .

But the last thing I wanna watch is more videos about Richie , Walter Day , Steve and Billy . At this point its getting very boring.........

That vector invader movie looks good .

I like it. I hope the movie involves what's going on with TG and 1up right now. Biggest news in arcade gaming in a long time. Best of luck to you and your crew.

Wasn't there another arcade move that was "King of" something or another?

Edit: watched the trailer, looks like some quality footage there. Best of luck on the endeavor. I will watch it for sure when it comes out.
Those that like to hate on Ritchie, he is truly a nice guy in person, I really don't know of many others who are that dedicated to the hobby.
