I have a Seeburg model 220 with the SHFA1 stereo amp. Lately, the sound has changed: the vocals seem VERY weak. It does not appear to be one channel - they both sound the same: you can hear the insturments fine, but the vocals on all the records sound almost muted in comparision.

Is this a bad tube, and if so, which one ? Thanks - Mark

Does it happen on both the A and B side of the record? If you haven't had the amp and the selector recapped recently, shut it off and do not use it until they are rebuilt. On my first juke I had my amp recapped but didn't realize I needed to have the selector recapped and after 15 minutes I burned up a $300 transformer. If it's been recapped find someone to test your tubes for you. I bought a tube tester the other day at a garage sale for $4.

It happens on both channels. I've depressed each channel's mute switch and it doesn't change the low-vocals.

I had the selector and amp professionally rebuilt about 6 years ago. The juke gets very light usage - a few hours a month max.

I will have to look for a tube tester like you said. I'm hoping it's just a bad tube, but I'm a real novice with amplifiers, so who knows.

But does it happen on both sides of the record ?...if it's only one side it's probably a bad needle
