Hello, I have a seeburg scd-1, I picked up and it turns on ok. I removed the sony cd player and hooked it to speakers and it plays ok. The problem is when I have it in the jukebox it says fp, but when you try to select a button nothing happens. Also when it is starting up it says "cd on" " cd off " a few times going back and forth. If i hit the play button on the inside of the cd player it picks up a disk and starts loading, but then returns the disk. Anyone have an idea when I can start to get this going?

scd-1

Try reseating all of the connectors on the main board. Cleaning the connections. I use the Gold contact cleaner. I picked it up at Fry's. The controller is not seing the cd player. It is a great sounding Juke Box. I gave up on the CD player(little or no parts available) and picked up the MP3 player/juke box controller simulator. I found a great free CD to MP3 converter program.

Thanks I will try that tonight. It says playerfp, which I am guessing is free play. But the number pad doesnt do anything to select a cd

You might also try cleaning the laser lens, VERY CAREFULLY if it was a bar room unit. Sometimes the smoky residue will impeed the laser signal.
It's not hard but if in doubt on how to do this, look for instructions because you can really mess some of them up if you bear into it.

I cleaned all the connections on both boards and still the same thing. I tried entering the service button and none of the keypad buttons work. i checked voltage on the test points on the boards and most were double what they should be, +5v had 11.2v to the ground point and so on.

Ok, I had the power supply out last night and plugged it back in tonight and was able to play a cd and select the track, after it was done playing it returned the disk and wouldn't work again. I did notice that when I shut it off again and it booted yp there was a 9 in the selection window and the letter n in the credits. Not sure what that means.

I have the 3 manuals and none of them say anything with error codes. i tried going into the service mode, but won't do anything when I push the number pad. does have the sce come one the screen and thats it.

Hi Alan,

I should stick to my own saying and do as I tell others. I should have used the k.i.s.s. ( keep, it, simple, stupid) method to track down the problem. it ended up being a bad button on the key pad. I removed it and used the reset button in place of the "9" button. thats why it kept coming up with 99 fp after a little while of running. It works great now, thanks for all the input on it.
