Seeburg M100C Fun!

If you haven't disassembled it already, try cleaning pin 25 on the rectangle plug S1. It handles both J & K.

I was waiting for a peer check - I'll try that tomorrow.

I believe someone went through the select matrix, it is very clean and smooth.

Well, the shop was closed on Monday, and I have a meeting tonight. My going forward plan is to clean Pin 25 (and I'll also clean Pin 1 while I'm at it, just to be sure even though it is common and should be fine).

I may pull the connectors apart and check for a broken conductor, and try to ring out the connection with my ohm meter to see if it is open on either end.

I should be able to read the solenoid resistance on the various coils. If the J/K coil is open, that will direct my actions.

Thank you sincerely for the help. It took me a while to find the page - your copy of the manual is much clearer than mine. Is it an original?

Original, and well-used. Got it and some tools from an old Jukebox repair guy a while back when I was working on a 100c & 100g.

I could tell it is different. My copy from Jukebox Arcade is not nearly as clear and crisp.

I'm not sure I'll look for one of those. This is the only Seeburg I have to work on. I do have an AMI I'm working on as well, I just replaced the Selenium rectifier with a bridge and since there is a rub somewhere, I'm installing a circuit breaker in parallel with the fuse (to be removed after troubleshooting).

My first step on that one is to use my endoscope and try to find where the insulation chafed during the move, and then shorted and let the magic smoke out.

Update: for @TSB
The J and K records are now playing. I didn't test them all, but did random pulls and they worked. I cleaned up 25 and 1 on the Jones Plug, which I believe resolved this.

A new problem has developed. Now as the record gets to mid-play, the audio fades out. I suspect it's in the wires between the stylus and the amp, since when I reject the record and the next record comes up, it plays fine until the mic record again.

If you think it's something else, let me know.

The first thing to check is the ohms of the cartridge & leads.
Unplug the wire at the amp, and test there first. Roughly 500ohms +-200ish. Will be a little high because you're testing the line and cartridge.
Then do the same with just the cartridge. Disconnect it from the tone arm (one small screw, then pull it off the arm), and measure the ohms.
What head do they have in it?

After that, you might need to dig into the Mute Circuit.

I already did the head. It's a standard cartridge - it was broken off the mount, so I took it home and re-built it using Super Glue.

I'll try your approach, but the fade appears around the same time. I'm figuring it may be those 32 gauge wires from the cartridge base to the output.

Any idea how long those are?

I'm going out to the location in a bit. I looked up the contact for the mute circuit - it was in that group with the broken resistor, so I'll bring out the soldering gear and replace that, and clean up the contact.

No need to replace the wire if they ohm out ok. Make sure to use high quality shielded wiring, if you do.
The fade out happening at the same time… could be a switch making/losing contact too early, so check those when you look into the muting circuit.

It was the MB contacts. I cleaned them up and it played to the end.

I started having more J/K problems. I recleaned the Jones plugs again, and this time hit them with DeOxit.

I ran 2 even and 2 odd songs. Apart from one having the wrong record in the slot, everything worked.

Thank you for your support!

I have one more repair. The right side pilaster light is not rotating.

Are there any tricks to getting that out? It's behind the coin mech.
